A novel method of identifying sewing damage in single jersey fabrics

International Journal of Clothing Science and Technology, 2022
Purpose This paper suggests a new method for determining the sewing damage that occurs in single jersey fabrics based on the calculation of the needle hole area. This paper also aims to investigate the effects of material type, sewing parameters, and repeated washing cycles on sewing damage by using this method.

Measurement of Single Jersey Fabric Stiffness : A Simple Method

Textile Research Journal, 1978
A method of measuring the bending length of limp and/or curly fabrics is described. The method is based on Peirce's Heart-Loop test. Results obtained on a set of 12 knit fabrics correlate extremely well with sensory assessments of the bending stiffness.

Finite element simulation of ballistic impact on single jersey knit fabric

Composite Structures, 2017
Abstract Knitted fabrics are constructed from interlocking loops of yarn. Curvature in the yarn provides stretchability, making them well suited for garments that will cover areas of the body that require large relative motion. Although most current soft armors are composed of woven textiles, knitted fabrics made of aramid fibers such as Kevlar may ...

VOLUME ELECTRICAL RESISTIVITY OF FLAX SINGLE JERSEY WEFT-KNITTED FABRICS

2022
The aim of this work was to investigate the volume electrical resistivity of three plain single jersey weft-knitted fabrics produced from the same flax yarn but with different structural characteristics. The influence of structural characteristics of knitted fabrics (number of courses, mass per unit area, and thickness), atmospheric conditions ...

Development of Aloe Gel Coated Single Jersey Fabric for Dermatitis

Journal of Fashion Technology & Textile Engineering, 2014
Development of Aloe Gel Coated Single Jersey Fabric for Dermatitis The awareness of health and hygiene for consumers has increased the demand for antimicrobial textiles. Whilst in the past it was predominantly technical textiles which had antimicrobial finishes in particular to protect against bacteria and fungi; now-a-days textiles worn close to the ...

Feasibility of Single Jersey Fabric from Open-End Spun Blended Yarn

Textile Research Journal, 1986
The dimensional and mechanical properties of plain knitted fabrics from open-end and ring spun acrylic-viscose blended yams are investigated. The fabric area shrinkage (%), thickness, and areal density of open-end spun yarns are greater but the bursting strength is less in comparison to ring-spun yarns.
