Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Meta-heuristics for stable scheduling on a single machine. [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper presents a model for single-machine scheduling with stability objective and a common deadline. Job durations are uncertain, and our goal is to ensure that there is little deviation between planned and actual job starting times.

Single Machine Scheduling Proportionally Deteriorating Jobs with Ready Times Subject to the Total Weighted Completion Time Minimization

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, we investigate a single machine scheduling problem with a proportional job deterioration. Under release times (dates) of jobs, the objective is to minimize the total weighted completion time.

Exact Method with Dominance Rules for Solving Scheduling on a Single Machine Problem with Multiobjective Function

open access: yesAl-Mustansiriyah Journal of Science, 2022
The present article proposes an exact algorithm for the single-machine scheduling problem to minimize the sum of total completion times, range of lateness and maximum tardiness on a single machine (1/ /(∑ C_(σ_j + R_L + T_max)), where machine idle time ...

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Minimizing Makespan Scheduling on a Single Machine with General Positional Deterioration Effects

open access: yesAxioms
This work studies single-machine scheduling with general position-dependent deterioration, where job processing times are general non-decreasing functions dependent on their positions in a sequence.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Protocol: Systematic Literature Review on Multiproduct Lotsizing and Scheduling in Single-Machine Environments: A Theoretical-Empirical Analysis

open access: yesWPOM : Working Papers on Operations Management
Multiproduct lot-sizing and scheduling in single-machine or single-resource environments constitutes a classical and still relevant problem in the field of operations management.

Single trajectory characterization via machine learning

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
In order to study transport in complex environments, it is extremely important to determine the physical mechanism underlying diffusion and precisely characterize its nature and parameters.
