DITHIOPHENES AS SINGLET OXYGEN SENSITIZERS

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1982
Abstract— The nematicidal compounds, 5‐methyl‐2,2′dithienyl, 5‐phenyl‐2,2′‐dithienyl and 5,5′‐dichloro‐2,2′‐dithienyl, generate singlet oxygen upon photoactivation with near‐UV light. Two chloro‐substituted dithienylethenes have similar properties that are farless efficient.

Singlet oxygen generation as a major cause for parasitic reactions during cycling of aprotic lithium–oxygen batteries

Nature Energy, 2017
Non-aqueous metal–oxygen batteries depend critically on the reversible formation/decomposition of metal oxides on cycling. Irreversible parasitic reactions cause poor rechargeability, efficiency, and cycle life, and have predominantly been ascribed to ...

Photosensitized Generation of Singlet Oxygen

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 2006
This work gives an overview of what is currently known about the mechanisms of the photosensitized production of singlet oxygen. Quenching of pi pi* excited triplet states by O2 proceeds via internal conversion of excited encounter complexes and exciplexes of sensitizer and O2.
