Singularity confinement in delay-differential Painleve equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We study singularity confinement phenomena in examples of delay-differential Painlev´e equations, which involve shifts and derivatives with respect to a single independent variable.

Integrability of Discrete Equations Modulo a Prime

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2013
We apply the ''almost good reduction'' (AGR) criterion, which has been introduced in our previous works, to several classes of discrete integrable equations.

Stress–singularity analysis in space junctions of thin plates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The stress singularity in space junctions of thin linearly elastic isotropic plate elements with zero bending rigidities is investigated. The problem for an intersection of infinite wedge-shaped elements is considered first and the solution for each ...

Strong singularity of singular masas in II1 factors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A singular masa A in a II1 factor N is defined by the property that any unitary w ∈ N for which A=wAw* must lie in A. A strongly singular masa A is one that satisfies the inequality ||EA- EwAw*||∞,2 ≥||w- EA(w)||2 for all unitaries ...

Equivariant singularity theory with distinguished parameters: Two case studies of resonant Hamiltonian systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We consider Hamiltonian systems near equilibrium that can be (formally) reduced to one degree of freedom. Spatio-temporal symmetries play a key role. The planar reduction is studied by equivariant singularity theory with distinguished parameters.

Singular diffusion in a confined sandpile

open access: yesEPL (Europhysics Letters), 2015
We investigate the behavior of a two-state sandpile model subjected to a confining potential in one and two dimensions. From the microdynamical description of this simple model with its intrinsic exclusion mechanism, it is possible to derive a continuum nonlinear diffusion equation that displays singularities in both the diffusion and drift terms.

Mass singularity and confinement in QED3 [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B - Proceedings Supplements, 2006
Infrared behaviour of the fermion propagator is examined by spectral representation. Assuming asymptotic states and using LSZ reduction formula we evaluate the the lowest order spectral function by definition. After exponentiation of it we derive the non perturbative propagator. It shows confinement and dynamical mass generation explicitly.

Axial anomaly and confinement in two-dimensional QED: Singular behavior of vacuum polarization at threshold

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
Performing the one-loop calculation of the vacuum polarization amplitude in QED1+1, one finds that the axial-vector current exhibits an anomaly. We note that the photon self-energy function displays a singularity in the 1+1D case, in stark contrast to ...
