Analytical Study of Shear Buckling Behavior of Trapezoidal and Sinusoidal Corrugated Web Girders

International Journal of Steel Structures, 2019
In this study, nonlinear finite element analysis was performed in order to identify the effects of variables that compose sinusoidal webs, and to analyze the effects of the ratio (β) of the length of the horizontal panel to the length of the tilted panel, one of the variables that compose trapezoidal webs.

Nonlinear response of an initially buckled beam with 1:1 internal resonance to sinusoidal excitation

Nonlinear Dynamics, 1993
The nonlinear response of an initially buckled beam in the neighborhood of 1:1 internal resonance is investigated analytically, numerically, and experimentally. The method of multiple time scales is applied to derive the equations in amplitudes and phase angles.

Analysis of Sinusoidal Buckling of Drill String in Vertical Wells Using Finite Element Method

SPE Middle East Oil and Gas Show and Conference, 2019
Abstract The present work focuses on the stability of drill strings in vertical wellbores. The first rigorous treatment of stability of drill strings for vertical wellbores was presented by Lubinski (1950) and his equation is till most widely used in the industry.

Nonlinear and Chaotic Snap-Through Response of Buckled Plates Under Sinusoidal Base Excitation

Volume 6C: 18th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, 2001
Abstract A simple dynamic model of a general buckled plate using a single mode model is used to present the typical trend of nonlinear behavior. The nonlinear dynamic buckling of curved plate acted upon by a sinusoidal excitation and its effects on the overall dynamic response can be easily interpreted using the single-mode formula.

General sinusoidal stiffness matrices for buckling and vibration analyses of thin flat-walled structures

International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1968
Abstract This paper is concerned with the derivation of stiffness matrices for the buckling or vibration analysis of any structure consisting of a series of long, thin, flat plates rigidly connected together at their longitudinal edges. Each plate is assumed to be subjected to a basic state of plane stress which is longitudinally invariant, and it is

Reliability-based design recommendations for sinusoidal-web beams subjected to lateral-torsional buckling

Engineering Structures, 2015
Abstract Developments and advances in fabrication technology have led to a new generation of structural shapes, among them, the sinusoidal-web girder. Due to easy execution and potential for structural efficiency, the use of sinusoidal-web girder has been increasing significantly in several segments of civil engineering construction such as bridges ...
