Effect of constant transverse force on chaotic oscillations of sinusoidally excited buckled beam

International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics, 1990
The chaotic oscillation of a buckled beam under sinusoidally varying and static constant transverse external forces is investigated. A harmonic balance method and a direct numerical integration are applied to a Duffings equation model of the buckled beam.

Sinusoidal buckling of a thin rod with connectors constrained in a cylinder

Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, 2014
Abstract Kinds of tubular strings with connectors are widely used in petroleum exploration and development field. In previous research, tubular strings are usually treated as homogeneous thin elastic rods constrained in a cylinder and few studies have been made on the effect of connectors.

Sinusoidal buckling of a thin rod with connectors constrained in a torus

Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, 2014
Abstract Kinds of tubular string are widely used in oil exploration and development. These tubular strings are usually approximately seen as homogeneous thin elastic rods without connectors constrained in a straight cylinder or torus. Recent research has shown that connectors play an important role on rod deflection problem.

Local buckling analysis of periodic sinusoidal corrugated composite panels under uniaxial compression

Composite Structures, 2019
Abstract The critical local buckling of simply-supported sinusoidal panels subjected to uniaxial compression using the Rayleigh-Ritz method is investigated. With increased applications of thin-walled composite structures in engineering, these corrugated panels are especially popular due to their high stiffness to weight ratio and high out ...

The Sinusoidal Buckling Mechanical Analysis for the Coiled Tubing Based on Energy Method

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Columns are prone to sinusoidal buckling and repeated instability on the effect of drilling pressure and fluid pressure during drilling operation. The resulted large area of random contact to borehole wall would affect the drilling efficiency. It made the backreaming and loading hard and the drilling pressure low.

Reliability-based design recommendations for sinusoidal-web beams subjected to lateral-torsional buckling

Engineering Structures, 2015
Abstract Developments and advances in fabrication technology have led to a new generation of structural shapes, among them, the sinusoidal-web girder. Due to easy execution and potential for structural efficiency, the use of sinusoidal-web girder has been increasing significantly in several segments of civil engineering construction such as bridges ...

A SINUSOIDAL STIFFNESS MATRIX FOR BUCKLING AND VIBRATION ANALYSES OF RECTANGULAR MINDLIN PLATES

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1995
A sinusoidal stiffness matrix for buckling and vibration analyses of rectangular Mindlin plates has been derived. The buckling and/or vibration equations of Mindlin plate theory have been stated. It has been shown how these equations contain, as a limiting case, those of classical thin plate theory. The equations have been written in dimensionless form

Elastic local buckling of periodic sinusoidal corrugated composite panels subjected to in-plane shear

Thin-Walled Structures, 2020
Abstract The critical local buckling instability of simply supported sinusoidal panels subjected to in-plane shear loading is investigated semi-analytically using the Rayleigh-Ritz method. Due to significant weight-strength saving and increased out-of-plane rigidity, these thin corrugated structural elements have gained wide recognition as an ...

Lateral-torsional buckling analysis of wood composite I-beams with sinusoidal corrugated web

Thin-Walled Structures, 2017
Abstract Buckling instability refers to a significant limit on the structures with I-section members, which causes severe decreasing of critical buckling load. Many mechanisms and techniques have been developed to increase the loading capacity of I-section structures, e.g., using composite materials or changing web geometry.
