Single Variable Thick Plate Buckling Problems Using Double Finite Sine Transform Method [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2023
This paper derives buckling solutions for single variable thick plate buckling problems using the double finite sine transform method (DFSTM). The problem governing partial differential equation (GPDE), originally formulated by Shimpi and others, uses a ...

Theoretical analysis of shear buckling stress in torsion of thin-walled square cross-section beams

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2023
Thin high-strength steel sheets are increasingly being applied to vehicle frames in order to increase the strength and reduce the weight. The thinner the plate, the more likely it is to occur buckling.

The Analytic Technique and Experimental Research Methods of Post-buckling about Slender Rod Strings in Wellbore [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Science and Technology, 2016
The buckling behavior of rod strings in wellbore is one of the key issues in petroleum engineering. The slender rod strings in vertical wellbore were selected as research objects.

Low-frequency sinusoids for enhanced shear buckling performance of thin plates

open access: yesJournal of Constructional Steel Research, 2021
Abstract Thin plates subject to shear are ubiquitous in structures, used in webs of flexural members, shear walls, curved aircraft fuselages, ship hulls, etc. Given shear buckling concerns, these slender elements must be designed to balance plate depth and thickness.

Buckling analysis of plates using an efficient sinusoidal shear deformation theory

open access: yesJournal of Fundamental and Applied Sciences, 2023
Mechanical buckling response of isotropic and orthotropic plates using the two variable refined plate theory is presented in this paper. The theory takes  account of transverse shear effects and parabolic distribution of the transverse shear strains through the thickness of the plate; hence it is unnecessary  to use shear correction factors.

PARAMETRIC STUDY IN SHEAR BUCKLING CAPACITY OF SINUSOIDAL CORRUGATED STEEL WEB

open access: yesASEAN Engineering Journal, 2022
Sinusoidal corrugated steel web has gradually gained attention over trapezoidal corrugated steel web. The design of shear buckling capacity for the trapezoidal corrugated web is governed by interactive buckling which normally has the lowest value among global, local and interactive failures.

Buckling behavior of tubing in gas storage under multi-cycle injection-production

open access: yesYou-qi chuyun, 2022
Tubings in injection and production wells of gas storage serve as dual channels in the process of gas injection and production. However, buckling behavior is prone to occur for the tubing in the complicated mechanical environment due to the large volume ...

A new sinusoidal shear deformation theory for bending, buckling, and vibration of functionally graded plates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A new sinusoidal shear deformation theory is developed for bending, buckling, and vibration of functionally graded plates. The theory accounts for sinusoidal distribution of transverse shear stress, and satisfies the free transverse shear stress ...

Effect of distortion on the buckling strength of stiffened panels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper predicts the behaviour of stiffened plates with different distortion levels in order to address a rational structural design procedure as pre-existing and fabricationrelated (like weld-induced) initial geometrical distortion is of great ...
