Sisal and Henequen as Binder-Twine Fibers
1919Excerpts: During the year 1917 more than 100,000,000 acres were planted in the, United Stales to the small-grain crops, wheat, oats, barley, rye, and rice. The total production of these crops amounted approximately to two and one-half billions of bushels, the greater part of which was harvested with harvesting machines.

Some structural aspects of sisal fibers
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1976A critical account has been presented of the recent investigation on the chemical modification of lignocellulosic sisal fibers. The molecular structure of the paracrystalline cellulose, which forms the major constituent of the fiber, was studied by x-ray diffraction technique.

Preparation and characterization of EVA–sisal fiber composites
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2006AbstractIn this work, composites of an EVA polymer matrix and short sisal fiber were characterized. The physical‐morphological as well as chemical interactions between EVA and sisal were investigated. When the samples were prepared in the presence of dicumyl peroxide, the results suggest that crosslinking of EVA as well as grafting between EVA and the ...

Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, 2016
Abstract The main goals of this work were to study the effect of different chemical treatments on sisal fiber bundles tensile properties as well as on tensile properties of composites based on poly(lactic acid) (PLA) matrix and sisal fibers. For this purpose, sisal fibers were treated with different chemical treatments.

Employment of Sisal Natural Fibers as Soil Reinforcement
2018The use of natural fibers as a reinforcement for soils is a technique known for a long time by humanity. This practice has a great performance as a reinforcement material for has a high tensile strength, promoting improvement in the mechanical properties of the soils, conferring gain of mechanical resistance and reduction of his compressibility.
