Urban ants as potential mechanical vectors of pathogenic and antibiotic‐resistant bacteria in a Brazilian hospital

Nine ant taxa were identified in a Brazilian hospital, with Tapinoma melanocephalum and Dorymyrmex brunneus being the most abundant. Eighty‐five percent of collected ants yielded detectable bacterial growth, including clinically relevant genera such as Acinetobacter, Pseudomonas, Escherichia coli and Pluralibacter.

Phylogenetic distance of host does not explain phenotypic differences of Meloidogyne incognita parasitism at 25 dpi. Summary The plant–parasitic nematode Meloidogyne incognita is the pathogen with the broadest host range among all known biotrophic interactions.
