Assessment of radiation-induced sterility, longevity, and reproductive characteristics of the Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae) strain of Swat: A step towards the implementation of SIT in Pakistan

open access: yesJournal of Vector Borne Diseases
Background & objectives: Biological approaches for vector mosquito control such as sterile insect technique (SIT) requires sterilization of male mosquitoes through specific radiation doses for sterility induction in males.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Comparison of the standard and boosted sterile insect techniques for the suppression of Aedes albopictus populations under semi-field conditions

open access: yesParasite
Innovative control tools are needed against Aedes mosquitoes. The boosted sterile insect technique (bSIT) consists of treating sterile males with a biocide prior to their release to contaminate larval habitats. We compared the efficacy of SIT and boosted

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Study of different acute SIT protocols’ impact on 200m sprinters’ anaerobic performance

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
IntroductionSprint interval training (SIT), characterized by its “all-out” maximal-intensity efforts, elicits substantial energy output in a short duration, demonstrating superior anaerobic performance.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.
