Variation of form factors in black pine stands of Kastamonu region according to various single tree and stand characteristics

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Forestry
The aim of this study was to examine the form factors of black pine (Pinus nigra J.F.Arnold) trees in even-aged, pure and natural stands of Kastamonu region. Data obtained from 120 sample plots taken from different site classes, canopy, development stage,

Evaluating humus forms variation in an unmanaged mixed beech forest using two different classification methods

open access: yesiForest - Biogeosciences and Forestry, 2012
Humus is an important part of terrestrial ecosystems and can be considered as an indicator of ecosystem functioning status. Morphologic method is an inexpensive and easy way to study humus forms.

MesonNet Workshop on Meson Transition Form Factors

open access: yes, 2012
The mini-proceedings of the Workshop on Meson Transition Form Factors held in Cracow from May 29th to 30th, 2012 introduce the meson transition form factor project with special emphasis on the interrelations between the various form factors (on-shell ...

Analysis of Binding Site Hot Spots on the Surface of Ras GTPase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We have recently discovered an allosteric switch in Ras, bringing an additional level of complexity to this GTPase whose mutants are involved in nearly 30% of cancers.

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Types of forest and timber reserves of plain beech stands in Ukraine

open access: yesНаукові праці Лісівничої академії наук України, 2019
Forest management on a typological basis foresees that forest site types and correct values of silvicultural indices of stands, including volumes of stands, reliably established during forest management activities allow planning appropriate forest ...

Ground-state Competition of Two-Component Bosons in Optical Lattice near a Feshbach Resonance

open access: yes, 2007
We investigate the ground state properties of an equal mixture of two species of bosons in its Mott-insulator phase at a filling factor two per site. We identify one type of spin triplet-singlet transition through the competition of ground state.

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Z to b bbar and Chiral Currents in Higgsless Models

open access: yes, 2009
In this note we compute the flavor-dependent chiral-logarithmic corrections to the decay Z to b bbar in the three site Higgsless model. We compute these corrections diagrammatically in the "gaugeless" limit in which the electroweak couplings vanish.
