Development of Sitophilus zeamais Motsch. in WURLD wheat
Journal of Stored Products Research, 1973Abstract WURLD wheat, a parboiled, lye-peeled product, was tested, along with untreated white wheat and pearled white wheat, and a hard red winter wheat bulgur, for susceptibility to the maize weevil, Sitophilus zeamais Motsch. The order of suitability of the wheats for multiplication of the weevils was pearled, untreated, bulgur and WURLD.

Journal of Stored Products Research, 1971Abstract Ninety-nine wheat kernels infested by Sitophilus zeamais Mots., were radiographed daily, to study development from egg to adult and behavior of the insects within the kernels. Enlarged photographic prints were prepared from these radiographs to facilitate interpretation.

Abstract DNAs from the endosymbiotes of two species of grain weevils, Sitophilus oryzae and S. zeamais, were separated from host-weevil DNA and purified by cesium chloride gradient centrifugation.
