Controle de Sitophilus zeamais Mots. através de diferentes concentrações de CO2 e O2 Control of Sitophilus zeamais Mots with different concentrations of CO2 and O2

open access: yesCiência Rural, 1996
Instalou-se um experimento com objetivo de avaliar o efeito de diferentes concentrações dos gases: CO2 e O2 balanceado com N, no controle de Sitophilus zeamais.

Agroecological strategies for Sitophilus zeamais handling in maize stored

open access: yesRevista de la Facultad de Agronomía, Universidad del Zulia, 2022
Sitophilus zeamais is an economically important pest because it feeds on stored corn, since its control is carried out with increasingly toxic insecticides, the objective of the effect of more ecological alternatives such as the application of CaO (quicklime 2 %), Beauveria bassiana (1.109 espores.mL-1), Ricinus communis powder aqueous (1,5 ...

From biology to biotechnology: Host‐regulation factors from parasitoid wasps are a source of bioactive molecules with translational potential

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, EarlyView.
Parasitoid wasps deploy maternal and embryonic factors to reprogramme host physiology. Venom, calyx fluid, polydnaviruses, teratocytes and larval secretions act in a coordinated, compartmentalised manner. Host‐regulation factors are promising sources of insecticidal, antimicrobial and bioinspired translational molecules.

Microbiome‐mediated chemical communication in insects: Implications for pest management

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 9, Page 8132-8151, September 2026.
Microbiome–semiochemical interactions involve the following processes: direct microbial synthesis, host gene regulation, precursor biotransformation, microbiome modulation and indirect ecological signaling. Abstract Insects rely on semiochemicals to regulate aggregation, mating, foraging, and host selection. This review synthesizes evidence that insect‐

Susceptibility of different genotypes of rice to Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky 1885 attack (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Engenharia Agrícola e Ambiental, 2016
Rice (Oryza spp.), the most important cereal in the world, is grown and consumed in all continents. Brazil is among the top ten producing countries. Stored grains can be attacked by pests (rodents, insects, fungi and mites) that cause serious qualitative

Effects of Simultaneous Sitophilus zeamais and Prostephanus truncatus During Storage of Maize in Hermetic and Non‐Hermetic Conditions

open access: yesCereal Chemistry, Volume 103, Issue 4, Page 465-472, July/August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Sitophilus zeamais (Mostschulsky), the maize weevil, and Prostephanus truncatus (Horn), the larger grain borer, are two notorious insect pests of farm‐stored products in Sub‐Saharan Africa (SSA). The goal of this study was to determine whether there were interactions between P. truncatus and S. zeamais during storage.

Sublethal Effects of Chlorantraniliprole on the Mobility Patterns of Sitophilus spp.: Implications for Pest Management

open access: yesInsects
Chlorantraniliprole, an anthranilic diamide insecticide, has emerged as a promising solution for controlling agricultural pests because of its low mammalian toxicity and selectivity towards non-target organisms.

Distribuição e amostragem de Sitophilus zeamais (M.) em grãos de trigo armazenado em silo metálico Distribution and sampling of Sitophilus zeamais (M.) in wheat grains stored in a metallic bin

Resistance of Tripsacorn-introgressed maize lines to Sitophilus zeamais [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stored Products Research, 2015
Abstract The maize weevil, Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), is one of the major pests of maize worldwide. We tested one Tripsacorn-introgressed inbred maize line and 42 hybrid combinations between eleven public inbred lines and 16 different Tripsacorn-introgressed inbreds for resistance to the maize weevil to investigate ...
