Six-Phase Pole-Changing Winding Induction Machines With Improved Performance

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2021
Automotive starter-generator applications require a high peak torque for cranking and a wide speed flux weakening region for generation. In such applications, the pole-changing winding induction machine offers a wide speed flux weakening region with a low pole number and a high peak torque capability when operated with a higher number of poles. In this

Six-phase machine drive system with nine-switch converter

IECON 2011 - 37th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2011
This paper presents a six-phase motor drive system with the nine-switch converter as the power electronic energy conversion device. The studied system is compared to the conventional solution and it is demonstrated the nine-switch converter is a suitable option for six-phase drive systems, especially due to the maximum frequency applied in the two ...

Magnetizing Inductance Determination in a Six-Phase Induction Machine

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2019
A simple offline method for measuring the magnetizing inductance of an asymmetrical six-phase induction machine is presented in this paper. The measurement procedure is based on dc excitation and it is performed at standstill. As opposed to the standard no load test, the magnetizing inductance is measured solely with the stator leakage influence ...

Modeling of Symmetrical Six-Phase Induction Machines Under Stator Faults

2021 IEEE International Electric Machines & Drives Conference (IEMDC), 2021
This paper addresses the occurrence of stator faults in six-phase induction machines, with a symmetrical winding. A dynamic model of the motor was developed in Matlab/Simulink environment, taking into consideration the occurrence of inter-turn short circuit faults.

Six-phase induction machine driven by the matrix converter

2011 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2011
The six-phase induction machine (SPIM) has two sets of three-phase stator windings spatially shifted by 30 electrical degrees. It has many advantages, such as reducing the torque pulsations, enhancing the power handling capability. The matrix converter (MC) is a very promising converter, which has the following characteristics: operation with unity ...

Fault tolerant DTC for six-phase symmetrical induction machine

2009 35th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics, 2009
In this paper, a new fault tolerant direct torque control (DTC) algorithm for six phase induction machines (6PIM) is introduced. The machine presents two sets of three phase windings spatially shifted by 60 electrical degrees. The aim of the proposed approach consists in computing an average stator voltage vector in order to control the mean values of ...

Intelligent sensorless speed control of six-phase induction machine

IECON 2011 - 37th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2011
This paper presents a new approach to the sensorless speed control of six-phase induction machine (6PIM). The new technique uses an Adaptive Neural Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS) as a rotor speed estimator to avoid using mechanical sensor. This makes the reference model free of pure integration and less sensitive to stator resistance variations.

Sensorless field-oriented control for six-phase induction machines

Fourtieth IAS Annual Meeting. Conference Record of the 2005 Industry Applications Conference, 2005., 2005
In this paper, the classical vector control of six-phase induction machines (SPIM) is analyzed. It is shown that this method is sensitive with respect to the rotor time constant. Then a new vector control law, which minimizes the closed-loop system sensitivity with respect to the motor resistances error, is proposed.

Direct torque control for six-phase symmetrical induction machines

2008 34th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics, 2008
In this paper, a new direct torque control (DTC) algorithm for six phase induction machines (6PIM) will be introduced. The machine has two sets of three phase windings spatially shifted by 60 electrical degrees. This approach is based on deriving the voltage vectors in a synchronous frame rotating with the stator flux.

Optimized Feed of Six Phase Induction Machine Using Special Transformers

2020 International Conference on Electrical and Information Technologies (ICEIT), 2020
The availability of three-phase supply in the generating stations and grid, make the three-phase induction machine the most spread drive system in various industrial applications. Nowdays, the multiphase power transmission Multi-phase grids are increasingly becoming the norm.
