Birth size and age at menarche: a twin perspective [PDF]
Do birthweight (BW) and co-twin sex influence the age at menarche in twins?BW, but not co-twin sex, was associated with age at menarche in twins. However, BW was not associated with age at menarche after controlling for genetics and shared rearing environment.Nutritional deprivation during critical developmental periods can trigger long-term effects on

Establishment exits in Germany: the role of size and age [PDF]
Using comprehensive data for West Germany, this paper investigates the determinants of establishment exit. We find that between 1975 and 2006 the average exit rate has risen considerably. In order to test various “liabilities” of establishment survival identified in the literature, we analyze the impact of establishment size and put a special focus on ...

Platelet size and age determine platelet function independently [PDF]
Abstract This study was undertaken to examine the interaction of platelet size and age in determining in vitro platelet function. Baboon megakaryocytes were labeled in vivo by the injection of 75Se- methionine. Blood was collected when the label was predominantly associated with younger platelets (day 2) and with older platelets (day 9).

Size-Selected Ag Nanoparticles with Five-Fold Symmetry [PDF]
Abstract Silver nanoparticles were synthesized using the inert gas aggregation technique. We found the optimal experimental conditions to synthesize nanoparticles at different sizes: 1.3 ± 0.2, 1.7 ± 0.3, 2.5 ± 0.4, 3.7 ± 0.4, 4.5 ± 0.9, and 5.5 ± 0.3 nm.
