Artificial Selection and Size at First Sexual Maturity of Perna perna Mussels (Linnaeus, 1758) in Southeastern Brazil

Journal of Shellfish Research, 2019
Brown mussels Perna perna (Linnaeus, 1758) are of great economic and social importance in the aquaculture and fishing sectors in many Brazilian states. The present study aimed to compare the sizes at first sexual maturity of brown mussels (L50) from natural banks exposed to different levels of anthropogenic pressure.

Reproductive Cycle of Sea Urchin Paracentrotus lividus (Lamarck, 1816) from the South Coast of Morocco: Histology, Gonads Index, and Size at First Sexual Maturity

Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering, 2021
The main objective of this study was to describe the reproductive cycle of the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus (Lamarck, 1816) on the south Atlantic coast of Morocco. In this study, we selected three sites in the Agadir region: Sidi R’bat, Cap Ghir, and Anza to study from March 2018 to February 2019 some aspects of reproduction in this species through

Sexual Differentiation and size at First Maturity of the MusselChoromytilus chorus(Molina, 1782) (Mollusca, Bivalvia) in Northern Chile.

American Malacological Bulletin, 2017
Abstract: The mussel Choromytilus chorus (Molina, 1782) is a commercially and ecologically important bivalve, which is extensively distributed along the Chilean coast (20°S–54°S). However, there are no previous studies regarding the reproductive aspects of this species in the northern part of its range. Mussels were collected at Caleta Errazuriz, along

Reproductive cycle and size at first sexual maturity ofHexaplex trunculus(Gastropoda: Muricidae) in the Gulf of Gabès (southern Tunisia)

Invertebrate Reproduction & Development, 2010
Abstract The reproductive cycle and size at first sexual maturity of the banded murex (Hexaplex trunculus) from the tidal areas of the Gulf of Gabes (southern Tunisia) were investigated from June 2007 to May 2008 through macroscopic analysis of the gonads and monthly variations in the general condition (K) and gonadosomatic indices (GSI).

First record on size at sexual maturity and optimum catchable length of 10 marine fishes from the Bay of Bengal (Bangladesh) through multi-models approach: a key for sound fisheries management

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2021
Appropriate management systems for the protection of fishes are mostly relying on the information of size at sexual maturity and optimum catchable length. The purpose of this research was to estimate the size at sexual maturity (Lm) and optimum catchable length (Lopt) of 10 marine fish species from the Bay of Bengal (Bangladesh) through multi-models ...
