Development of comprehensive liquid chromatography (LC x LC) approaches for the analysis of complex copolymer structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Knowledge of the exact composition and purity of advanced copolymers is of utmost importance given their influence on the final physical properties. The development of analytical techniques to examine these impurities is therefore crucial with respect of

RECONSTITUTION OF ALLOPHYCOCYANIN FROM Mastigocladus laminosus WITH ISOLATED LINKER POLYPEPTIDE [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The core linker polypeptide Lc 8.9 was isolated from Mastigocladus laminosus and purified on a preparative scale. A method for the reconstitution of allophycocyanin (AP)—linker complexes from isolated polypeptides was developed. The complex (αAP(βAP)3 Lc

Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Effect of membrane character and solution chemistry on microfiltration performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
To help understand and predict the role of natural organic matter (NOM) in the fouling of low-pressure membranes, experiments were carried out with an apparatus that incorporates automatic backwashing and long filtration runs.

Removal of Steroid Hormone Micropollutants by an Electrochemical Carbon Nanotube Membrane Flow‐Through Reactor: Role of Concentration and Degradation Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A flow‐through electrochemical membrane reactor equipped with a carbon nanotube membrane eliminates the mass transfer limitation, achieving removals >97.5% for steroid hormone (SH) micropollutants through electrochemical adsorption and degradation, over a broad initial concentration varying from 50 to 106 ng L−1.

Heterologous production and characterisation of a yeast peptide:N-glycanase : a thesis presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Biochemistry at Massey University, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Peptide:.N-glycanases (PNGases) removes A-linked glycans from glycoproteins. Three distinct families of PNGases have been characterised, although all of them not completely. Some of these PNGases are cytosolic, others are secreted.

The Structural Basis of Coenzyme A Recycling in a Bacterial Organelle. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Bacterial Microcompartments (BMCs) are proteinaceous organelles that encapsulate critical segments of autotrophic and heterotrophic metabolic pathways; they are functionally diverse and are found across 23 different phyla. The majority of catabolic BMCs (

Boosting the Energy Density of “Anode‐Free” Lithium Metal Batteries via Electrospun Polymeric Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
While host structures are known to enhance the reversibility and safety of lithium metal deposition, their additional volume and weight often decrease the battery's energy density and specific energy. By combining a lightweight and porous scaffold of electrospun polymer with a thinner separator, this article demonstrates a simultaneous improvement of ...
