Association Between Individualized Education for Kidney Replacement Therapy Modality Selection and Peritoneal Dialysis Initiation: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an established home‐based kidney replacement therapy (KRT), but its uptake remains low in Japan. We evaluated whether individualized education in a dedicated outpatient clinic was associated with the initiation of PD.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Optimal Matching with Matching Priority

open access: yesAnalytics
Matching algorithms are commonly used to build comparable subsets (matchings) in observational studies. When a complete matching is not possible, some units must necessarily be excluded from the final matching. This may bias the final estimates comparing

The connected size Ramsey number for matchings versus small disconnected graphs

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Graph Theory and Applications, 2019
Let F, G,  and H be simple graphs. The notation F → (G, H) means that if all the edges of F are arbitrarily colored by red or blue, then there always exists either a red subgraph G or a blue subgraph H.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Novel Diplexer and Triplexer Designs Avoiding Additional Matching Circuits Outside Filters

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Diplexers and triplexers are widely used in communication systems for separating frequency bands in different channels. Design issues related to preventing additional matching circuits, integrating two or three band input resonators into one-band ...

Effect of Smaller Fingerprint Sensors on the Security of Fingerprint Authentication

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Small fingerprint sensors are necessary to be used in the small devices like smartphones, USBs, and cards. Different small devices have different sizes of fingerprint sensors.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Matching seedling size to planting conditions: interactive response with soil moisture

open access: yesiForest - Biogeosciences and Forestry, 2019
Seedling size is a very important issue when producing plants for restoration projects. Scientific evidence on the appropriate size for drylands is contradictory.
