Genetic study of congenital bile-duct dilatation identifies de novo and inherited variants in functionally related genes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Congenital dilatation of the bile-duct (CDD) is a rare, mostly sporadic, disorder that results in bile retention with severe associated complications. CDD affects mainly Asians.

Mendelian Randomization and Double Machine Learning Modeling Reveal Brain Imaging‐Derived Phenotypes as Functional Contributors to 18 Autoimmune Inflammatory Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This schematic integrates the eight statistically significant causal relationships identified between 1,366 brain imaging‐derived phenotypes (IDPs) and 18 autoimmune inflammatory diseases (AIDs). Arrows indicate the direction of causality inferred from bidirectional two‐sample MR analyses.

Macrophage TRIM21 Inhibition Ameliorates Murine Acute Pancreatitis via PHB2‐Mediated Mitochondrial Stabilization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Macrophage‐derived TRIM21 drives the progression of AP via ubiquitin‐proteasome‐mediated degradation of PHB2, leading to impaired PHB2‐mediated mitophagy. Therefore, accumulation of cytosolic mtDNA hyperactivates the cGAS‐STING signaling axis, thereby amplifying inflammatory cascades.

Neurodegeneration in an adolescent with Sjogren-Larsson syndrome: a decade-long follow-up case report

open access: yesBMC Medical Genetics, 2018
Background Sjogren-Larsson syndrome is a hereditary neurocutaneous syndrome that is non-progressive in nature. Although neuroregression has been reported in seizure-prone preschool children requiring anti-epileptic treatment, teenage-onset dystonia ...

Sjögren’s syndrome-associated microRNAs in CD14+ monocytes unveils targeted TGFβ signaling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
SjS-associated miRNA expression levels are positively associated in CD14+ monocytes. Linear regression analyses were used to define associations between miRNAs in HC (circle, n = 17), SLE (triangle, n = 17), and RA (diamond, n = 18) patient groups ...

Cytokine‐Engineered Chimeric Antigen Receptor‐T Cell Therapy: How to Balance the Efficacy and Toxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cytokine‐engineered CAR‐T cells represent a promising immunotherapy against malignancies due to direct tumor killing and potent immunity response. However, significant toxicities, including CRS and ICANS, have restricted clinical applications. How to keep the risk‐benefit balance of the advanced therapy is of great importance for maximizing the benefit

Clinical–Radiological Spectrum of Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy‐Related Inflammation

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective To identify clinical and radiological features of cerebral amyloid angiopathy‐related inflammation (CAA‐ri), and compare these features with those of sporadic CAA, to improve the understanding, diagnosis, and clinical care of CAA‐ri. Methods We retrospectively reviewed routine clinical data from 37 patients with CAA‐ri and 158 patients with ...

Lacrimination in Sjogren′s syndrome. Is Schirmer′s test really a useful diagnostic tool?

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 1988
In the past, Schinier′s test was used as a diagnostic tool in Sjogren′s Syndrome. In this study, a comparison of 100 normal patients with 2l patients with Sjogren′s Syndrome has been made to study its reliability.
