Series Solution of Skewed Stiffened Plates
Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1964The small deflection theory of skewed stiffened plates under uniform load is treated by means of a Fourier series. The general solution considers simple support conditions along two opposite edges and the conditions of elastic support, with or without torsial restraint along the other two edges.

Free Vibration of Orthotropic Skew Plates
Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, 1999The main purpose of this paper is to develop a fast converging semianalytical method for assessing the vibration effect on thin orthotropic skew (or parallelogram/oblique) plates. Since the geometry of the skew plate is not helpful in the mathematical treatments, the analysis is often performed by more complicated and laborious methods.

Skewness correction in automatic license plate recognition
SPIE Proceedings, 2005Improvement of the accuracy of an automatic car license plate recognition system is studied. The recognition system has been installed in several ports, factories and national borders around Europe and Middle East. The paper describes the anatomy of a portable version of the recognition system, in which the requirements are different from a fixed ...

Vibrations of skew plates immersed in water
Computers & Structures, 1985Abstract Vibrations of skew plates immersed in water have been studied in the present work. Two skew prism fluid elements have been developed for the above study. As there is no information available on them, a few experiments have been conducted to measure the frequencies of vibration of these plates immersed in water.

Nonlinear analysis of skewed sandwich plates
Meccanica, 1994Nonlinear static and dynamic behaviours of freely supported Rhombic sandwich plates have been studied following Banerjee's hypothesis. Numerical results for 0° skew angle are compared with other known results. Results for other skew angles are believed to be new.

The Natural Frequencies of Thin Skew Plates
Aeronautical Quarterly, 1956SummaryUsing Rayleigh's principle, the natural frequencies of thin isotropic rhombic plates, with three possible combinations of boundary conditions obtained by combining clamped-clamped and clamped-supported edge conditions, are determined in Part I of this paper. To introduce constant limits of integration, non-orthogonal co-ordinate systems are used

Vibration of generally orthotropic skew plates
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1975This paper presents a numerical method for finding the natural frequencies and mode shapes of generally orthotropic clamped skew plates subjected to in-plane forces. As illustrations, two aspects are considered. First, the natural frequencies and mode shapes of a rhombic plate (without any in-plane forces) are determined for different orientations of ...

Stability of Generally Orthotropic Skew Plate
Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1976The effect of changing the orientation of the principal axes of orthotropy of the material on the stability of plates has been considered by Chamis. Using the Galerkin.s Method, he has found the buckling loads for simply supported rectangular plates subjected to both direct and shear in-plane forces. To the writers.

Frequency optimization of laminated skew plates
Materials & Design, 2009In this study, the frequency optimization of laminated skew plates is investigated. The objective function is to maximize the fundamental frequency of the laminated skew plates and the fiber orientation is considered as design variable. The mathematical formulation is based on the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) for the frequency analysis ...

Vibration of generally orthotropic skew plates
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1974Vibration problem of generally orthotropic plates with particular attention to plates of skew geometry is studied. The formulation is based on orthotropic plate theory with arbitrary orientation of the principal axes of orthotropy. The boundary conditions considered are combinations of simply supported, clamped, and free-edge conditions.
