1996This study was undertaken to compare injuries sustained by recreational skiers with those of a group of ski patrollers and ski instructors. The study includes 3825 injuries occurring at a medium-size ski area in northern New England from 1986–87 to 1990–91 (five seasons). A total of 124 injuries were sustained by expert employee skiers.

Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports, 1991During the 1987–1990 ski seasons. 325 consecutive patients sustained downhill skiing injuries at a skiing area in central Finland. The calculated injury rate was 0.94 per 1000 skier‐days (0.9%) and 0.56 per 1000 skiers (0.06%). Forty‐one percent of the injuries were located in the lower limbs and 37% in the upper limbs.
