Scottish Medical Journal, 1996Scottish skiing is a growth industry—nearly all acute ski injuries in Aviemore are managed initially by local general practitioners. This study set out to examine the nature and incidence of ski injuries in one Scottish ski resort, and to calculate the additional workload generated for the health centre, ambulance service and local hospital.

The Sensitivity of Austrian Ski Areas to Climate Change
Tourism Planning & Development, 2013Climate change is expected to have severe impacts on Austrian ski areas. This paper aims to address the limitations of existing studies by incorporating snowmaking in a sensitivity assessment with warming scenarios of up to 4°C conducted for 228 ski areas.

Sportverletzung Sportschaden : Organ der Gesellschaft fur Orthopadisch-Traumatologische Sportmedizin, 1990An analysis of frequencies, causes and injury patterns in skiing with emphasis to knee injuries was done. In our clinic next to the slopes of the ski resort Pfronten and the skiing region Ostallgäu skiing injuries contribute with 58% of all stationary treated sports injuries to a big part of our in-patients.

Mixtures of forage species are traditionally used in a very wide context of situations, differing for altitude and pedoclimatic conditions.

Ski Area Commercial Space Distribution Estimation
Journal of Travel Research, 1993This study suggests use of a two-part mathematical model for analyzing patterns in land use, illustrated by data for ski areas in New England and British Columbia. The model describes lift ratios and allocation of commercial space, and results suggest that the ratio of total commercial space to lift capacity increases with lodging capacity.
