Bladed Skid Trail Site Productivity Impacts on Mountainous Appalachian Terrain

Logging on steep mountain terrain in Appalachia often requires cutting flat paths, called bladed skid trails, into hillsides so that heavy machinery can drag (skid) harvested trees to a central loading area (landing). Construction of these trails bulldozes away the topsoil and reshapes the ground, and the damage can last for decades.
