Sarcoptic mite hypersensitivity and skin lesions in slaughtered pigs

Veterinary Record, 1991
The association between papular skin lesions in slaughtered pigs and hypersensitivity to Sarcoptes scabiei var suis was examined in experimental and field studies, and by the retrospective analysis of monitoring records obtained at slaughter. A causal role for S scabiei was indicated by the production of lesions in experimentally infested pigs, by ...

Increase in skin mast cells following chronic house dust mite exposure

British Journal of Dermatology, 1986
Application of inhalant allergens in high concentration to the mildly abraded skin of sensitive patients with atopic dermatitis gave rise to eczematous skin responses at 48 h. These lesions, infiltrated by basophils, eosinophils and mononuclear cells, are examples of cutaneous basophil hypersensitivity.

Dust mite induces multiple polar T cell axes in human skin

Clinical & Experimental Allergy, 2017
SummaryBackgroundHouse dust mite/HDM atopy patch test/APT elicits positive reactions in a high fraction of atopic dermatitis/AD and healthy individuals. Experimental systems for new‐onset/chronic AD are needed to support rapid therapeutic development, particularly since animal models representing human AD are lacking.

Blocking activity of mite‐specific IgG antibodies studied by skin tests

Allergy, 1989
The aim of the study was to determine whether IgG antibodies from patients on specific immunotherapy could inhibit skin test reactivity of allergens when mixed with them prior to testing. In a preliminary double‐blind study, mite extracts were incubated with glycero‐saline solution or non‐specific IgG and used in testing 15 patients.
