In this chapter we explore techniques for partitioning SKO models. These are subsequently used to developmethods for aggregating sub-graphs to transform SKO models into new ones. In Chap. 15, sub-graph aggregation forms the basis of con- strained embedding techniques to develop SKO models for closed-chain multibody systems.

Multiobjective topology optimization with the sko-method
Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization, 2017The Soft-Kill-Option method (SKO) is an evolutionary approach for topology optimization. The objective of the optimization is to determine a uniformly stressed topology for a given loading. Thus, a structure with optimal material layout can be achieved. Ordinary applications of the SKO method consider only the stress objective. Within the present study,

Semantics for Mapping Relations in SKOS
2013SKOS (Simple Knowledge Organisation System) is a W3C Recommendation for sharing and linking structured vocabularies - taxonomies, thesauri, classification schemes, etc. - via theWeb [1]. Since the SKOS specification leaves the semantics of SKOS rather open, large modeling projects may specialise SKOS with informal modeling guidelines that narrow down ...

Exploring structural differences in thesauri for SKOS-based applications
Proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Semantic Systems, 2011This paper presents conceptual assumptions about the inter- action between the structural specificities of a thesaurus and the quality of a thesaurus-based application output. So far hardly any literature exists that discusses thesaurus mod- elling requirements with respect to the following thesaurus- specific application areas: classifying, indexing ...

A Model-Driven Approach to SKOS Implementation
2010 Fifth International Conference on Internet and Web Applications and Services, 2010Simple Knowledge Organization System (SKOS) has been recently adopted by the W3C as a standard to support the representation, use and interoperability of different types of structured controlled vocabularies, such as thesauri, taxonomies or classification schemes.

Automatic annotation of ICD-to-MedDRA mappings with SKOS predicates
2014Robust alignments between ICD and MedDRA are essential to enable the secondary use of clinical data for pharmacovigilance research. UMLS makes available ICD-to-MedDRA mappings, but they are only poorly specified, which introduces difficulties when exploited in an automatic way.

Matching SKOS Thesauri for Spatial Data Infrastructures
2010This paper outlines the importance of the SKOS format for developing thesauri in the context of Spatial Data Infrastructures and presents a prototype application supporting one of the most important tasks for the harmonisation of thesauri in this domain, i.e., relating independent categorisations of terms that may be developed by distinct thematic ...
