Amyloidogenic Peptide Fragments Designed From Bacterial Collagen‐like Proteins Form Hydrogel
This study identified amyloidogenic sequence motifs in bacterial collagen‐like proteins and exploited these to design peptides that self‐assemble into β‐sheet fibers and form hydrogels. One hydrogel supported healthy fibroblast growth, showing promise for biocompatible materials. Our work demonstrates that bacterial sequences can be harnessed to create

Modeling Top of Atmosphere Radiance over Heterogeneous Non-Lambertian Rugged Terrain
Topography affects the fraction of direct and diffuse radiation received on a pixel and changes the sun–target–sensor geometry, resulting in variations in the observed radiance.

Speckle‐Engineered Upconversion Amplification in Nanoemulsion‐Templated Hydrogel Microdomes
Nanoemulsion‐confined PEGDA microdomes generate speckle‐like excitation fields that strongly amplify upconversion luminescence upon dehydration, enabling filter‐free visible readout with reversible on–off switching. DMD‐based lithography yields scalable, shape‐programmable arrays for moisture‐responsive displays and optical encryption.

Photometric Analysis of Pi of the Sky Data
Two fully automatic Pi of the Sky detectors with a large field of view, located in Spain (INTA) and in Chile (SPDA) observe the sky in search of rare optical phenomena, and also collect observations which include many kinds of variable stars.

Impact of street geometry on downward longwave radiation and air temperature in an urban environment
A study on urban geometry has been carried out with regard to urban climate in a medium-sized central European city. Thereby the interrelation between the sky view factor (SVF, the portion of visible sky seen by an observer), downward longwave radiation ...

Two new approaches to spatial interpolation with inherent sidelobe suppression for imaging riometers [PDF]
Absorption images as obtained by imaging riometers such as IRIS are usually created by interpolating between absorption values for individual beams. For IRIS, the locations of the beam centres serve as grid points for subsequent linear interpolation ...

Atomic Layer Deposition in Transistors and Monolithic 3D Integration
Transistors are fundamental building blocks of modern electronics. This review summarizes recent progress in atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the synthesis of two‐dimensional (2D) metal oxides and transition‐metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), with particular emphasis on their enabling role in monolithic three‐dimensional (M3D) integration for next ...

Molecular Clouds as the Origin of the Fermi Gamma-Ray GeV-Excess
The so-called "GeV-excess" of the diffuse Galactic gamma-ray emission is studied with a spectral template fit based on energy spectra. The spectral templates can be obtained in a data-driven way from the gamma-ray data, which avoids the use of emissivity
