Photonics of Topological Magnetic Textures

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Localized noncollinear magetic textures imprint their geometry and topology onto traversing photonic fields endowing them with orbital angular‐momentum, chirality, and magnetoelectric densities. Abstract Topological textures in magnetically ordered materials are an important case studies for fundamental research with promising applications in data ...

Confinement of Magnetic Skyrmions to Corrals of Artificial Surface Pits with Complex Geometries

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
Magnetic skyrmion is a particle-like swirling spin texture promising for future memory devices. The geometric confinement and artificial control of skyrmions are crucial for such practical applications. In a previous research, we developed a technique to

Review of Rotational Symmetry Breaking in Baby Skyrme Models

open access: yes, 2009
We discuss one of the most interesting phenomena exhibited by baby skyrmions -- breaking of rotational symmetry. The topics we will deal with here include the appearance of rotational symmetry breaking in the static solutions of baby Skyrme models, both ...

Large Anomalous Hall Effect, Non‐Vanishing Berry Curvature in (110) FeRh Antiferromagnet Films via Interface Strain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a strain‐tunable anomalous Hall response in the (110)‐oriented FeRh thin film. First‐principles calculations reveal that strain‐induced symmetry lowering redistributes Berry curvature near the Fermi level via band shifts and avoided crossings.

Sculpting liquid crystal skyrmions with external flows

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2023
We investigate, using experiments and numerical simulations, the distortions and the alignment of skyrmions in liquid crystal under external flows for a range of average flow velocities.

Stray field signatures of N\'eel textured skyrmions in Ir/Fe/Co/Pt multilayer films

open access: yes, 2018
Skyrmions are nanoscale spin configurations with topological properties that hold great promise for spintronic devices. Here, we establish their N\'eel texture, helicity, and size in Ir/Fe/Co/Pt multilayer films by constructing a multipole expansion to ...

Spintronic Bayesian Hardware Driven by Stochastic Magnetic Domain Wall Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetic Probabilistic Computing (MPC) utilizes intrinsic stochastic dynamics in domain walls to establish a hardware foundation for uncertainty‐aware artificial intelligence. Thermally driven domain‐wall fluctuations, voltage‐controlled magnetic anisotropy, and TMR readout enable fully electrical, tunable probabilistic inference.

Emergent Phenomena Induced by Spin-Orbit Coupling at Surfaces and Interfaces

open access: yes, 2016
Spin-orbit coupling (SOC) describes the relativistic interaction between the spin and momentum degrees of freedom of electrons, and is central to the rich phenomena observed in condensed matter systems.

Current‐Driven Nonreciprocal Response of Nonequilibrium Skyrmions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A skyrmion holds great promise for spintronic applications owing to its intrinsic topological stability and high mobility under ultra‐low current excitation. Here, by means of in situ electron microscopy, we demonstrate a skyrmion diode effect and the associated current‐driven nonreciprocal skyrmion dynamics in a designed FeGe‐based microdevice.
