Intra‐ and Interspecific Effects on Spatio‐Temporal Behavior of Common Commensal Rodent Species

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This study revealed major findings on spatio‐temporal behavior of commensal rodents on a pig farm showing the influence of interspecific dominance on movement behavior and the resulting species‐specific ecological adaptations. Additionally, rodents tend to stay in their home ranges and migration to other stable buildings is only rare.

UBVH: Unified Bounding Volume and Scene Geometry Representation for Ray Tracing

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Bounding volume hierarchies (BVHs) are currently the most common data structure used to accelerate ray tracing. The existing BVH methods distinguish between the bounding volume representation associated with the interior BVH nodes and the scene geometry representation associated with leaf nodes.

Encoding Occupancy in Memory Location for Efficient and Compact High‐Resolution Voxel Structures

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We encode information about geometric structure into the pointers of a sparse voxel directed acyclic graph (SVDAG). Each pointer carries information about the structure of the node it points to. Our encoding improves ray tracing performance and reduces model size in memory.

Revisiting Text Readability and Processing Effort in Second Language Reading: Bayesian Analysis of Eye‐Tracking Data

open access: yesLanguage Learning, EarlyView.
Abstract Studies have explored the relationship between text readability and processing effort in second language (L2) reading—as evidenced by eye movements. However, these studies generally relied on short texts, raising concerns about the validity of the analyzed data. This study reexamined these relationships using open‐source eye‐tracking data from

Microbial mats in dinosaur ichnocoenoses

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Until now, the significance of microbial mats in preservation of dinosaur tracks and in reconstructing the palaeoenvironment in which dinosaurs roamed was rarely studied. Dinosaur tracks are commonly found close to ancient aquatic bodies where moist sediment had once allowed footstep registration.
