Kaimai Tunnel track slab assessment

IABSE Congress Reports, 2021
<p>Kaimai Tunnel is an 8.5km long KiwiRail tunnel on one of the busiest freight rail lines in NZ North Island. The concrete base slab that supports the track slab in the drill and blast section of the tunnel was cast on a fill layer rather than country rock.

Debonding Analysis and Identification of the Interface Between Sleeper and Track Slab for Twin-Block Slab Tracks

International Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics, 2021
For China Railway Track System (CRTS) I twin-block slab tracks, the interface between the sleeper and track slab is susceptible to damage under the coupled effect of long-term train load and external environment factors. In order to analyze the damage behavior and identify the type of debonding at the interface, this paper established a three ...

Slab Track Mass-Spring System

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2012
Development of a ballastless slab track structure with a mass-spring system began about 20 years ago, and different kinds of these track systems have been successfully in use for urban transportation systems. With these systems the elastic elements are inserted under the slabs to provide protection from bothersome vibration and noise.

Vibration characteristics of floating slab track

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2008
Abstract Coupled equilibrium equations of suspended wheels and floating slab track system were solved with the fourth-order Runge–Kutta method to obtain the deflections, vibration velocities, and wheel–rail contact forces. The program was validated through several aspects.

On vehicle/track impact at connection between a floating slab and ballasted track and floating slab track's effectiveness of force isolation

Vehicle System Dynamics, 2009
When a vehicle runs over the connection between a floating slab track (FST) and ballasted track, wheel/rail impact may occur because of the stiffness difference in the two kinds of track, and thus a transition sector is usually included at the connection to smoothen the stiffness change.

Modelling of floating-slab tracks with continuous slabs under oscillating moving loads

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2006
This paper discusses modelling of floating-slab tracks on rigid foundations. The model consists of an upper Euler–Bernoulli beam to account for both the rails and a lower Euler–Bernoulli beam to account for the slab. There are two continuous resilient layers in the model: one to account for railpads between the rails and the slab and one to account for

Feste Fahrbahn : Slab Track

2005

Slab Upwarping of Twin-Block Slab Track on Subgrade–Bridge Transition Section

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2014
This study is a preliminary analysis of the causes of upwarping of reinforced concrete slabs of a twin-block slab track, specifically on the subgrade–bridge transition section. The analysis considers the structural features and force characteristics of slab track on the basis of site investigations and numerical simulation, and a corresponding repair ...

Floating track slab isolation for railways

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1977
Where an underground railway is in existence, it is up to the developer to take what precautions may be necessary to provide an acceptable interior environment. Many a building has been isolated on resilient bearings from the ground-borne vibrations produced by an adjacent railway with the result that the occupants are unaware of the trains running ...
