Slab waveguide theory for general multi-slot waveguide

Journal of Modern Optics, 2016
AbstractOptical devices based on slot waveguide are of considerable interest in numerous applications due to the distinct feature of strong electric field confinement in a low-refractive index region. A theoretical model based on multi-slab waveguide theory is used to reveal the physical mechanism of the slot waveguide.

Slab cholesteric waveguide

Optics & Laser Technology, 2022
Abstract We consider a planar waveguide in which there is a confined cholesteric liquid crystal whose helical axis is perpendicular to its plane boundaries. We write the electromagnetic equation for describing the dynamics of the propagating modes inside the guide and solve them numerically.

Dielectric Slab Waveguide

2021
The origin of guided-wave behavior is presented for the case of slabs and for thin films of dielectric materials. The discussion examines the origin of the guided wave using a classical optics approach and that of Maxwell’s equations, as well as the matching of fields at the interfaces of dielectric layers.

Slab Waveguides in Chemistry

Critical Reviews in Analytical Chemistry, 1990
Abstract Technological development in the telecommunications and related areas have made available a wide variety of optical structures such as thin silica rods, hollow cylinders, fiber bundles, and many planar geometries such as thin films or channels resting on flat substrates.
