Slab pull, slab weakening, and their relation to deep intra‐slab seismicity [PDF]
Subduction zone seismicity is highly variable. Great earthquakes occur at few subduction zones around the world, with significant variation in size and frequency of deep events. Interactions between overriding and subducting plates and slab pull strength for individual plates provide a framework for understanding these variations.

The behaviour of reinforced concrete slabs in fire [PDF]
In this paper a robust model is presented based on the previous layer procedure developed by the author to also take into account the effects of concrete spalling on the behaviour of concrete slabs under fire conditions.

Failure assessment of lightly reinforced floor slabs. I: Experimental investigation [PDF]
This paper is concerned with the ultimate behavior of lightly reinforced concrete floor slabs under extreme loading conditions. Particular emphasis is given to examining the failure conditions of idealized composite slabs which become lightly reinforced ...

Subduction Duration and Slab Dip [PDF]
The dip angles of slabs are among the clearest characteristics of subduction zones, but the factors that control them remain obscure. Here, slab dip angles and subduction parameters, including subduction duration, the nature of the overriding plate, slab

Performance of 3D-Printed Beams and Slabs Using Self-Sensing Cementitious Composites and DIC Method
This paper aims to explore the structural performance of 3D-printed and casted cement-based steel-reinforced concrete beams and one-way slabs incorporating short carbon fibre and activated carbon powder, which have been shown to enhance concrete’s ...

Asymptotic Behavior of Exact Exchange for Slabs: Beyond the Leading Order
Far outside the surface of slabs, the exact exchange (EXX) potential v x falls off as − 1 / z , if z denotes the direction perpendicular to the surface and the slab is localized around z = 0 .

Many of the factors expected to control the dynamics and evolution of Earth's subduction zones are under‐explored in an Earth‐like spherical geometry. Here, we simulate multi‐material free‐subduction of a complex rheology slab in a 3‐D spherical shell ...

Topological Susceptibility from Slabs [PDF]
In quantum field theories with topological sectors, a non-perturbative quantity of interest is the topological susceptibility chi_t. In principle it seems straightforward to measure chi_t by means of Monte Carlo simulations.
