Lagrangian subbundles of symplectic bundles over a curve [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
A symplectic bundle over an algebraic curve has a natural invariant $\sLag$ determined by the maximal degree of its Lagrangian subbundles. This can be viewed as a generalization of the classical Segre invariants of a vector bundle. We give a sharp upper bound on $\sLag$ which is analogous to the Hirschowitz bound on the classical Segre invariants ...

Split Special Lagrangian Geometry [PDF]

open access: yesProgress in Math. 297 (2012), 42-90, 2010
One purpose of this article is to draw attention to the seminal work of J. Mealy in 1989 on calibrations in semi-riemannian geometry where split SLAG geometry was first introduced. The natural setting is provided by doing geometry with the complex numbers C replaced by the double numbers D, where i with i^2 = -1 is replaced by tau with tau^2 = 1.

Optimization of a Welding Procedure for Making Critical Aluminum Welds on the LBNF Absorber Core Block [PDF]

open access: yesJACoW IPAC2024 (2024) TUPS43
The LBNF Absorber consists of thirteen 6061-T6 aluminum core blocks. The core blocks are water cooled with de-ionized (DI) water which becomes radioactive during beam operations. The cooling water flows through gun-drilled channels in the core blocks.

Special Lagrangian submanifolds and Algebraic complexity one Torus Actions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2000
In the first part of this paper we consider compact algebraic manifolds M^2n with an algebraic (n-1)-Torus action. We show that there is a T-invariant meromorphic section $\sigma$ of the canonical bundle of M. Any such $\sigma$ defines a divisor D. On the complement M'=M-D we have a trivialization of the canonical bundle and a T-action.

DIDO Hammerstein Identification of Mild Steel Welding Pool in Pulsed GTAW Dynamic Process with Wire Filler [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
This paper analyzed the nonlinearity of welding dynamic process, and then adopted MIMO Hammerstein model to describe approximately the process. An identification algorithm was developed and pseudo random signals were adopted as model input. Through a welding experiment, input-output data were obtained and the Hammerstein model of welding pool was ...

Effect of Post Weld Heat Treatments on the Elevated Temperature Mechanical Properties of Ti6Al4V Friction Welds [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
The {\alpha}+\b{eta} titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) has been successfully joined using rotary friction welding. To investigate the influence of post weld heat treatments on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the welds, the weld joints were heat treated in {\alpha}+\b{eta} and \b{eta} regions, followed by air cooling and furnace cooling ...

On the use of slag from silicomanganese production for welding flux manufacturing

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2016
The technologies for manufacturing of welding fluxes with the use of slag from silicomanganese production and dust of gas purification from aluminum production are developed. The new compositions and production technology of welding fluxes are offered. The comparative evaluation of the new compositions and widely used AN-348 flux is provided.
