A calculation method of biomass slagging rate based on crystallization theory

open access: yes, 2014
Aiming to the vacant research on slagging rate calculation of biomass, a method based on crystallization theory is proposed here. First, KCl–K2SO4–Na2SO4 ternary eutectic system, as main inducing factor of biomass slagging, is verified by slagging sample

High‐Fidelity Synthetic Raman Spectra Generation for Sinter Basicity Prediction Using β$$ \beta $$‐Variational Autoencoders

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
A β$$ \beta $$‐variational autoencoder with β$$ \beta $$ = 0.1 generates high‐fidelity synthetic Raman spectra of industrial sinter with a 16‐fold improvement in spectral fidelity over SMOTE‐based augmentation (KL divergence: 0.0075 vs. 0.121), enabling reliable basicity prediction (R2 = 0.83) from limited labeled datasets.

Compositional Analysis and Numerical Simulation of Slagging Process on a Water-Cooled Wall of an MSW Incinerator

open access: yesWaste
The mechanism of slagging in municipal solid waste incinerators is complex, and the slagging process is simultaneously affected by the composition, temperature, and flue gas flow.

Individual and Societal Economic Burden of Atopic Dermatitis: A Nationwide Cohort Study

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Using nationwide registry‐based data, this study estimates the economic burden of atopic dermatitis. Each individual with atopic dermatitis incurs an annual excess cost of €2172, driven mainly by foregone income rather than direct healthcare expenditure. ABSTRACT Background Atopic dermatitis (AD) imposes a significant economic burden for individuals as

TRW advanced slagging coal combustor utility demonstration

open access: yes, 1990
The TRW Advanced Entrained Coal Combustor Demonstration Project consists of retrofitting Orange and Rockland (O R) Utility Corporation's Lovett Plant Unit No. 3 with four (4) slagging combustors which will allow the gas/oil unit to fire 2.5% sulfur coal.

Development of Calcium‐Based Coatings to Mitigate Vanadate Corrosion

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
Ca‐rich coatings can suppress the corrosive attack of molten V2O5 by forming Ca2 V2 O7 and Ca V2 O6. For this, a large Ca‐reservoir is key to mitigate corrosion at 600°C and 700°C. ABSTRACT Vanadate corrosion occurs in devices powered by heavy fuel oil, such as stationary turbines.

Machine Learning‐Assisted Prediction and Analysis of Viscosity and Fusion Characteristics for Coal and Biomass Ash

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances, EarlyView.
This study develops a machine learning framework for predicting the flow temperature and viscosity of coal and biomass ash with CatBoost and LightGBM as the optimal models. Feature analysis revealed composition‐property mechanisms, and symbolic regression was further applied to derive empirical formulas for rapid and accurate prediction.

National Policy Coherence Counts for Reducing Inequality in Global Climate and Development Agendas

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT International institutions promote policy coherence as crucial to the effective and fair implementation of global sustainability agendas, though the evidence for its benefits is slim. We present here the first systematic cross‐country dataset on the consequences of national government efforts to promote policy coherence for vulnerable groups ...

Toward a Sustainability Standard for Cultural Organizations: Borrowing From Tourism

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cultural organizations are increasingly engaging with sustainability, yet they lack a sector‐specific standard to guide and institutionalize efforts as long‐term strategies. This study reviews research papers on sustainability standards in the tourism sector, a field with greater experience with such tools, and horizontally borrows insights ...

From Waste to Value: A Data‐Driven Framework for Sustainable Raw Materials Substitution in the Ceramic Industry

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT With increasing geopolitical risks, environmental pressures, and regulatory demands, the sustainable sourcing of raw materials has become a global priority for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG
