Human‐in‐the‐Loop Object Segmentation for 3D Gaussian Splatting via Finger‐based VR Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study introduces a human‐in‐the‐loop segmentation framework for 3D Gaussian Splatting that integrates real‐time optimization with intuitive VR‐based finger prompting. Compared with existing automatic, learning‐based methods, it achieves significantly higher accuracy and reduced segmentation time.

NIRGB‐GS: Near‐Infrared Assisted Low‐Light Scene Reconstruction and Enhancement via Gaussian Splatting

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article proposes NIRGB‐GS, a multimodal 3DGS variant that enables reliable 3D reconstruction and normal‐light novel‐view synthesis for extremely low‐light scenes by fusing paired near‐infrared and noisy RGB captures. High‐SNR near‐infrared modality and modality‐specific appearance encoding together resolve the issues of unstable pose/geometry ...

A Comprehensive Study of the Wave Impact Loads on an Inclined Plate

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2019
Water wave impact on a wet deck is an important issue in ocean engineering, and the plate-shaped structure in the splash zone tends to suffer tremendous impact loads.

Active Pose SLAM [PDF]

open access: yes2012 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2012
We present an active exploration strategy that complements Pose SLAM [1] and optimal navigation in Pose SLAM [2]. The method evaluates the utility of exploratory and place revisiting sequences and chooses the one that minimizes overall map and path entropies. The technique considers trajectories of similar path length taking marginal pose uncertainties

Abnormal wave slamming impact of stiffened cylinders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The structural response of a stiffened cylinder due to slamming impact is studied using the ALE method in LS-Dyna. The numerical modelling approach is in the first place verified against experimental results from unstiffened plate drop tests. Afterwards,

Visual and Visual‐Inertial SLAM Based on Enhanced Deep Learning Features and Motion Smoothness Constraints

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A visual and visual‐inertial simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithm, leveraging enhanced deep learning features and motion smoothness constraints, is proposed in this research work. This method retains the advantages of geometry‐based SLAM methods while effectively utilizing the powerful representational capabilities of data‐driven ...

Experimental Study and Numerical Simulation of the Water Entry of a Ship-Like Symmetry Section with an Obvious Bulbous Bow

open access: yesPolish Maritime Research, 2021
A bulbous bow is a typical ship structure. Due to the influence of the bulbous bow, complex flow separation and gas capture phenomena may appear during the water entry of ship-like sections.

Barriers and Enablers for Effective Support Coordination in the National Disability Insurance Scheme

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Support coordinators act as intermediaries between the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and participants, facilitating access to funded supports. To optimise outcomes, they must navigate NDIS complexities, identify services that meet individual needs and engage with diverse stakeholders.
