A Lindley-Type Distribution for Modeling High-Kurtosis Data
This article proposes a heavy-tailed distribution for modeling positive data. The proposal arises with the ratio of independent random variables, specifically, a Lindley distribution divided by a beta distribution.

An α-Monotone Generalized Log-Moyal Distribution with Applications to Environmental Data
Modeling environmental data plays a crucial role in explaining environmental phenomena. In some cases, well-known distributions, e.g., Weibull, inverse Weibull, and Gumbel distributions, cannot model environmental events adequately.

A versatile model for lifetime of a component under stress
In this study, a versatile model, called $$\alpha$$ α -monotone inverse Weibull distribution ( $$\alpha$$ α IW), for lifetime of a component under stress is introduced by using the $$\alpha$$ α -monotone concept.

Summary: In this article we study a subfamily of the slashed-Weibull family. This subfamily can be seen as an extension of the Rayleigh distribution with more flexibility in terms of the kurtosis of distribution. This special feature makes the extension suitable for fitting atypical observations.

An Extension of the Akash Distribution: Properties, Inference and Application
In this article we introduce an extension of the Akash distribution. We use the slash methodology to make the kurtosis of the Akash distribution more flexible. We study the general probability density function of this new model, some properties, moments,

The Slash Power Normal Distribution with Application to Pollution Data
In this paper, we introduce a new slash distribution via the power normal distribution and uniform distribution. This new distribution, called the slash power normal distribution, models more appropriately the skewness and kurtosis of data than the power

The Slashed‐Rayleigh Fading Channel Distribution
We propose an alternative distribution for modelling fading‐shadowing wireless channels. This distribution presents certain advantages over the Rayleigh‐lognormal distribution and the K distribution and has proved useful in the setting described. We obtain closed‐form expressions for the average channel capacity and for the average bit error rate of ...

Statistical Inference for a General Class of Noncentral Elliptical Distributions
In this paper we introduce a new family of noncentral elliptical distributions. This family is generated as the quotient of two independent random variables, one with noncentral standard elliptical distribution and the other the power of a U(0, 1 ...

Slash Truncation Positive Normal Distribution and Its Estimation Based on the EM Algorithm
In this paper, we present an extension of the truncated positive normal (TPN) distribution to model positive data with a high kurtosis. The new model is defined as the quotient between two random variables: the TPN distribution (numerator) and the power ...

Phosphorus Forms in Ultisol Submitted to Burning and Trituration of Vegetation in Eastern Amazon
The use of fire to prepare agricultural areas is a technique still used by small farmers in eastern Amazon. This type of management changes the dynamics of soil nutrients, especially phosphorus, which constitutes the most limiting nutrient for crop ...
