Cannabinoids From Trema micranthum (L.) Blume (Cannabaceae): A Cannabinoid Profiling System

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Trema micranthum (L.) Blume is a species from the Cannabaceae botanical family, present all over the tropics. A recent study conducted by our group identified the presence of cannabidiol (CBD), Δ9‐tetrahydrocannabinol, cannabidiolic acid, and tetrahydrocannabinolic acid‐A in T. micranthum extracts.

Ethnomedicinal Uses, Phytochemistry, Pharmacological Activities, and Toxicology of the Subfamily Gomphrenoideae (Amaranthaceae): A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The subfamily Gomphrenoideae is composed of about 480 accepted species, many of which have been historically used as medicinal plants, reason why they have been studied in terms of chemical profile, biological activity, and safety. This review consolidates the advances in research on this subfamily over the past 47 years, emphasizing its ...

Diastereoselective, Diversifiable Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of the Virginiamycin Inducers, the Virginiae Butanolides

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
Production of natural products is tightly regulated, resulting in many silent biosynthetic gene clusters. BarA is a repressor that downregulates production of the virginiamycin antibiotics. The VBs are ligands for BarA that reverse its repression of virginiamycin production.

Stereoselective Synthesis of Cannabidiol and its Unnatural Enantiomer to Evaluate Anxiolytic‐Like Properties and Memory Interactions

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
Both (−)‐ and (+)‐cannabidiol (CBD and ent‐CBD, respectively) are synthesized via a highly diastereoselective CSA‐catalyzed Friedel–Crafts reaction. ent‐CBD exhibits anxiolytic‐like effects in aged male mice without impairing long‐term memory formation.

A Systematic Review of Substance Misuse Treatment Processes and Outcomes as Implemented in Prisons for Men in the UK

open access: yesCriminal Behaviour and Mental Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background With a rising prison population, a substantial portion of whom are identified as substance misusers, it is important to understand the availability of treatment pathways, their successes and areas for improvement. Given the likely importance of national factors in criminal justice and substance use service provision, we chose to ...
