Controlled laser‐drilling of embedded HfO2 membranes creates three layer nanopores with Gaussian‐shaped cavities sculptured in the supporting layers. These embedded solid‐state nanopores slow DNA translocation by 12‐fold compared to SiNx pores, enabling high‐resolution, label‐free detection of short DNAs, RNAs, and proteins.

Effect of Waviness Contact on Sliding Friction of the Piston-Cylinder System in Mixed Lubrication
The piston-cylinder is the main component of the transmission of energy in the vehicle's engine, but it represents a significant source of unavoidable friction, which negatively affects engine performance by reducing piston lifespan and increasing fuel ...

Wear and friction of TiAlN/VN coatings against Al2O3 in air at room and elevated temperatures [PDF]
TiAlN/VN multilayer coatings exhibit excellent dry sliding wear resistance and low friction coefficient, reported to be associated with the formation of self-lubricating V2O5.

Droplet Triboelectrification on Liquid‐Like Polymer Brushes
This work investigates the triboelectrification of water droplets on polymer brush‐coated surfaces exhibiting minimal contact line pinning. Such surfaces enable the systematic study of electrode patterning and controlled changes in droplet contact area.

Coulombic structural superlubricity at high sliding speeds under ambient conditions
Structural superlubricity is an intriguing physical phenomenon, whereby sliding at a structurally incommensurate, atomically flat interface yields vanishingly small friction forces.

Experimental Investigation of Friction Coefficient and Wear Rate of Composite Materials Sliding Against Smooth and Rough Mild Steel Counterfaces [PDF]
In the present study, friction coefficient and wear rate of gear fiber reinforced plastic (gear fiber) and glass fiber reinforced plastic (glass fiber) sliding against mild steel are investigated experimentally. In order to do so, a pin on disc apparatus
