Observer based approaches are commonly embedded in sensorless variable speed drives for the purpose of speed control. It estimates system variables to produce errors or residual signals in conjunction with corresponding measurements. The residual signals

Adaptive fuzzy terminal sliding-mode observer with experimental applications
In this paper, conventional gradient-descent-based adaptive fuzzy observer is improved by using the terminal sliding-mode theory for a class of nonlinear systems. The improvement is made in two ways: first, the switching term of the sliding-mode approach

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Fault detection and isolation for nonlinear systems via high-order-sliding-mode multiple-observer
Summary In this paper, fault detection and isolation problems are studied for a certain class of nonlinear systems. Under some structural conditions, multiple high-order sliding-mode observers are proposed. The value of the equivalent output injection is

Sliding-Mode Adaptive Observer Approach to Chaotic Synchronization
Extensions of sliding-mode adaptive observer are presented for state reconstruction of nonlinear systems with uncertainty having unknown bounds. The observer uses nonlinear gains that are smoothened versions of classical sliding-mode gains and they are ...

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Adaptive Finite-Time Disturbance Observer Based Sliding Mode Control for Dual-Motor Driving System
This paper investigates a precise tracking control method based on an adaptive disturbance observer for the dual-motor driving system. The unknown matched disturbance is fully considered and estimated in this paper, and the estimation error is proven to ...
