Sliding-Mode Control for Systems With Mismatched Uncertainties via a Disturbance Observer

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2013
This paper develops a sliding-mode control (SMC) approach for systems with mismatched uncertainties via a nonlinear disturbance observer (DOB). By designing a novel sliding surface based on the disturbance estimation, a DOB-based SMC method is developed ...

A novel neural second-order sliding mode observer for robust fault diagnosis in robot manipulators

open access: yesInternational Journal of Precision Engineering and Manufacturing, 2013
This paper investigates an algorithm for fault diagnosis in robot manipulators using a novel neural second-order sliding mode observer. Differently from the conventional neural network observer and first-order sliding mode observer for the robust fault ...

Fuzzy sliding mode controller design with fuzzy sliding mode observer

2000 26th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. IECON 2000. 2000 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Electronics, Control and Instrumentation. 21st Century Technologies and Industrial Opportunities (Cat. No.00CH37141), 2002
This paper addresses the design strategy of a decoupled fuzzy sliding mode controller and a fuzzy sliding mode observer on the basis of the Takagi-Sugeno's (T-S) fuzzy model. A class of fourth-order systems such as a cart-pole system could be well controlled and observed in both the pole hyperplane and the cart-hyperplane simultaneously by the proposed

Neural identification based on sliding mode observer

2007 IEEE 22nd International Symposium on Intelligent Control, 2007
In this paper, a new on-line neural identification method is presented. The identified nonlinear systems are partial-state measurement. Their inner states, parameters and structures are unknown. The design is based on the combination of a sliding mode observer and a neuro identifier.

An adaptive sliding mode observer for induction machines

2008 American Control Conference, 2008
Control of induction machines in the so-called sensorless paradigm forms an interesting academic and practical problem. In this paper, an observer-controller system is proposed that can be used to control an induction machine with unknown parameters and partial state variable information.

Sliding Mode Functional Observers for Nonlinear Systems

2008 IEEE Region 10 and the Third international Conference on Industrial and Information Systems, 2008
This paper addresses the problem of estimating a linear function of the states of a nonlinear system using sliding mode functional observer approach. Sliding mode functional observers proposed in this paper are of low-order. New conditions for the existence of sliding mode functional observers are derived.

Decentralised Sliding Mode Observer-Based FDI

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006
Robust decentralised fault detection and isolation (FDI) is considered in this paper. Firstly, a sliding mode observer is proposed. Then, a decentralised fault estimation strategy is proposed using the equivalent output error injection, and a decentralised reconstruction scheme follows by exploiting the structure of the uncertainty.

Conventional Sliding Mode Observers

2014
The purpose of an observer is to estimate the unmeasurable states of a system based only on the measured outputs and inputs. It is essentially a mathematical replica of the system, driven by the input of the system together with a signal representing the difference between the measured system and observer outputs.

Sliding mode observers for fault detection and isolation

Automatica, 2000
This paper considers the application of a particular sliding mode observer to the problem of fault detection and isolation. The novelty lies in the application of the equivalent output injection concept to explicitly reconstruct fault signals. Previous work in the area of fault detection using sliding mode observers has used disruption of the sliding ...

Sliding Mode Control for a Hydrostatic Transmission in Combination with a Sliding Mode Observer

2016
Hydrostatic transmissions are continuously variable hydraulic power converters, which provide lots of advantages and represent a characteristic drive train component in, e.g. all types of working machines, city vehicles and renewable energy plants. In high-performance motion control systems, however, hydrostatic transmissions are less frequently used ...
