Web Traffic Anomaly Detection using Stacked Long Short-Term Memory
An example of anomaly detection is detecting behavioral deviations in internet use. This behavior can be seen from web traffic, which is the amount of data sent and received by people who visit websites.

Sliding Mode Control for Slosh-Free Motion using a Nonlinear Sliding Surface [PDF]
A new nonlinear switching surface is proposed for the design of a sliding mode controller for a class of mismatched uncertain systems. A control system for slosh-free motion of a partially filled liquid container is sought.

Submodular Optimization Over Sliding Windows [PDF]
Maximizing submodular functions under cardinality constraints lies at the core of numerous data mining and machine learning applications, including data diversification, data summarization, and coverage problems. In this work, we study this question in the context of data streams, where elements arrive one at a time, and we want to design low-memory ...

On Sliding Mode Observers for Systems with Unknown Inputs [PDF]
International audienceThis paper considers the problem of designing an observer for a linear system subject to unknown inputs. This problem has been extensively studied in the literature with respect to both linear and nonlinear (sliding mode) observers.

Parallel Approach to Sliding Window Sums [PDF]
Sliding window sums are widely used in bioinformatics applications, including sequence assembly, k-mer generation, hashing and compression. New vector algorithms which utilize the advanced vector extension (AVX) instructions available on modern processors, or the parallel compute units on GPUs and FPGAs, would provide a significant performance boost ...

Sliding window higher-order cumulants for detection of eye blink artifact from short segments of single-channel EEG [PDF]
Background The prevalence of single-channel electroencephalogram (EEG) is increasing. However, eye blink artifacts can contaminate EEG signals, potentially impacting their clinical utility.

Automata theory on sliding windows
In a recent paper we analyzed the space complexity of streaming algorithms whose goal is to decide membership of a sliding window to a fixed language. For the class of regular languages we proved a space trichotomy theorem: for every regular language the optimal space bound is either constant, logarithmic or linear.

Study on the Influence of Window Type on Natural Ventilation Effect Based on CFD Simulation [PDF]
Good natural ventilation is one of the basic conditions for people to be able to work and live indoors. In this paper, wind velocity, wind velocity non-uniformity coefficient and air age are taken as the evaluation indexes of indoor ventilation condition.
