AlN ceramics processed by aqueous slip casting

open access: yes, 2006
Fully dense aluminium nitride (AlN) ceramics consolidated by aqueous slip casting were obtained after sintering at 1750°C for 2h. The obtained samples were characterized by Vickers hardness (1000 Hv), flexural strength (200 MPa) and thermal conductivity (

Mechanostimulatory Cues Determine Intestinal Fibroblast Fate and Profibrotic Remodeling in a Physiodynamic Human Gut‐on‐a‐Chip

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A healthy gut barrier shields underlying fibroblasts from luminal shear forces, illustrating that “good fences make good neighbors.” Barrier damage exposes fibroblasts to shear stress, inducing cell death and the emergence of stress‐adapted, profibrotic fibroblasts. Sustained shear exposure promotes the formation of stiff aggregates of mechanoadapative

Lymphoid‐Tissue‐on‐Chip Recapitulates Human Antibody Responses In Vitro

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The presented lymphoid‐tissue‐on‐chip system allows culture of primary human tonsil cells at organotypic high density under perfusion for up to 4 weeks, emulates immune response to soluble vaccines and vaccination via peripheral antigen‐presenting cells and represents a useful tool to assess cellular interactions during homeostasis, immune responses ...

Application of acoustic emission for determination of initial temperature of casting mould

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2000
It was shown in this paper that, thermal stresses and accompanying them plastic strains, generated during solidification and cooling of casts of metal alloys, were the sources of acoustic emission. For casts, which phase α is deformed by slip, there is a

Breaking the Toughness‐Stretchability Trade‐Off in Hydrogels with Dynamic Hydrogen Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel nanocomposite hydrogel architecture overcomes the inherent conflict between toughness and stretchability by integrating uniformly dispersed aminopropyl‐hybrid‐phyllosilicate nanosheets within a polyacrylamide matrix. This design leverages a dynamic hydrogen‐bonding network to facilitate efficient energy dissipation and self‐recovery.

Harnessing Phase Separation for the Development of High‐Performance Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogels are indispensable for the development of next‐generation bioelectronics, soft robotics, and biomedical devices, where their mechanical properties determine performance and reliability. Among strategies to enhance hydrogel mechanics, phase separation enables controlled heterogeneity resulting in gel networks that are reinforced by ...
