Effect of substituting Gd with 3 wt% Nd on high temperature creep behaviors of peak-aged Mg-10Gd-0.4Zr casting Mg alloy

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
In this paper, the high temperature creep behaviors of peak-aged Mg-10Gd-0.4Zr and Mg-7Gd-3Nd-0.4Zr casting alloys were investigated. The results showed that substituting Gd with 3 wt% Nd promoted precipitation of the β′ phase with higher number ...

Slip cast nitride-bonded silicon carbide bodies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The dispersion behaviour of SiC, Si and their mixtures, in deionised water, was studied as a function of pH by sedimentation, viscosity, rheology and zeta potential measurements.

Progress towards slip-casting YBa2Cu3O7-x monoliths

open access: yes, 1997
Sintered bars of YBaCuO obtained by slip-casting are investigated for drying and sintering behaviour. High J values (≈ 10 A/cm at 77 K) are obtained, although J values are low (≈ 10 A/cm at 77 K).

Enhancing Strength and Electrical Conductivity in Al–Zr–Sc Conductor Alloys Through Sn and Sr Microalloying and Two‐Step Aging Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Trace additions of Sn and Sr combined with a two‐step aging treatment are shown to enhance the microstructure and performance of Al–Zr–Sc conductor alloys. Strength and electrical conductivity increase concurrently through accelerated precipitation of fine Al3(Sc, Zr) precipitates and improved dislocation resistance, offering a cost‐effective pathway ...

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

The possibility of producing graded Al2O3-Mo, Al2O3-Cu, Al2O3-W composites using CSC method [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Technical Sciences, 2019
The subject of the study was the production and characterization of three ceramic-metal graded composites, which differed in addition of the metallic phase. The following composites systems were investigated: Al2O3-Mo, Al2O3-Cu, Al2O3-W.

The influence of metal phase composition on microstructure and mechanical properties of Al2O3-Cu-Cr ceramic metal composites [PDF]

open access: yesProcessing and Application of Ceramics, 2020
Ceramic metal composites from the ternary Al2O3-Cu-Cr system were fabricated with the use of the slip casting method. Densities of the obtained composites with 15 vol.% of metal content and different percentage composition of Cu and Cr were examined by ...

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.
