A stochastic flow rule for granular materials
There have been many attempts to derive continuum models for dense granular flow, but a general theory is still lacking. Here, we start with Mohr-Coulomb plasticity for quasi-2D granular materials to calculate (average) stresses and slip planes, but we ...

The relationship between induced fluid structure and boundary slip in nanoscale polymer films [PDF]
The molecular mechanism of slip at the interface between polymer melts and weakly attractive smooth surfaces is investigated using molecular dynamics simulations.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Developing a three-dimensional laminar flow in the entrance region of rectangular microchannels has been investigated in this paper. When the hydrodynamic development length is the same magnitude as the microchannel length, entrance effects have to be ...

Effective slip boundary conditions for flows over nanoscale chemical heterogeneities
We study slip boundary conditions for simple fluids at surfaces with nanoscale chemical heterogeneities. Using a perturbative approach, we examine the flow of a Newtonian fluid far from a surface described by a heterogeneous Navier slip boundary ...

Copper‐based composites enhanced with carbon feature convenient mechanical properties and favorable electric conductivity. Processing via deformation and thermomechanical treatments can introduce advantageous microstructures further enhancing their performance. Herein, copper–graphene powder‐based composites are directly consolidated via rotary swaging

Pressure Drop of Microchannel Plate Fin Heat Sinks
The entrance region constitutes a considerable fraction of the channel length in miniaturized devices. Laminar slip flow in microchannel plate fin heat sinks under hydrodynamically developing conditions is investigated semi-analytically and numerically ...

Power-Law Slip Profile of the Moving Contact Line in Two-Phase Immiscible Flows
Large scale molecular dynamics (MD) simulations on two-phase immiscible flows show that associated with the moving contact line, there is a very large $1/x$ partial-slip region where $x$ denotes the distance from the contact line.

A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Pressure-Driven Thermal Slip Flow in the Elliptical Channel with Radial Oscillatory Wall
This paper is aimed at presenting thermal slip flow driven by oscillatory pressure gradient in a deformable microchannel of elliptic cross-section. The fully developed flow of Newtonian fluid is considered, and Navier slip is applied on the boundary. The
