ObjectivesFlow separation increases the drag and noise of underwater vehicles, and influences the controllability of their control surfaces. Therefore, the influence of slip caused by superhydrophobic surfaces on drag reduction and flow separation is ...

Effective slip lengths for longitudinal shear flow over partial-slip circular bubble mattresses [PDF]
The problem of longitudinal shear flow over a circular bubble mattress with partial slip and protrusion angle 90o is solved in a quasi-analytical fashion by a novel transform scheme recently devised by the author. The general approach can be readily adapted to other mixed boundary value problems.

We conducted fluid injection experiments on cylindrical low‐permeability granite samples with a critically stressed sawcut fault at local injection rates of 0.2 and 0.8 mL/min and confining pressures of 31 and 61 MPa.

Study on the drag reduction mechanism of spheres with various hydrophobic types
In this paper, a 3D hydrophobic model was developed using User-Defined Functions to investigate the flow characteristics and drag reduction mechanism of spheres with various hydrophobic types. The results confirmed that for the fully hydrophobic spheres,

The existence of a critical length scale in regularised friction
We study a regularisation of Coulomb's friction law on the propagation of local slip at an interface between a deformable and a rigid solid. This regularisation, which was proposed based on experimental observations, smooths the effect of a sudden jump ...

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Numerical analysis of low-Reynolds-number flow past an array of pillars with surface slip
In the development of micro- and nano-fluidic devices incorporating nanopillar structures to create nanoscale confined flow paths, it is important to consider the slip velocity on the pillar surface, which reflects the local wettability.

Investigation of The Effect of Design Variables on Slip Assembly: Spline Module and Slip Length
The driveshaft which transmits the power from the engine to the wheels in the motor vehicles is one of the vital elements in the driveline. Driveshafts have two basic motions depending on the road conditions, angular and axial movements. Angular movement
