Stagnation point flow and heat transfer over a nonlinear shrinking sheet with slip effects

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2015
In this paper, an investigation is performed to analyze the effects of the slip parameters A and B on the steady stagnation-point flow and heat transfer due to a shrinking sheet in a viscous and incompressible fluid. Using similarity transformations, the

Influence of Si Content and Milling Duration on the Microstructure and Mechanical–Tribological Properties of AlCoCrFeNiSi High‐Entropy Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Si‐doped AlCoCrFeNi high‐entropy alloys are synthesized by mechanical alloying to reveal the effect of Si content and milling time on phase evolution, microstructural refinement, and tribological behavior. A transition from FCC to BCC structure, significant grain refinement, and enhanced hardness and wear resistance are achieved, with the 4 at% Si ...

Multiplex Modular Nanorobotic Systems with Catalytic Activity under Magnetic Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present modular nanorobots composed of a magnetic propulsion module and different extension modules carrying functional activities, assembled via DNA base pairing. The system integrates propulsion, optical tracking, enzymatic catalysis, and cell docking in a programmable manner.

Independence of Slip Velocities on Applied Stress in Small Crystals

open access: yesSmall, 2014
Directly tracing the spatiotemporal dynamics of intermittent plasticity at the micro- and nanoscale reveals that the obtained slip dynamics are independent of applied stress over a range of up to ∼400 MPa, as well as being independent of plastic strain.

Design Strategies and Emerging Applications of High‐Performance Flexible Piezoresistive Pressure Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Flexible piezoresistive pressure sensors underpin wearable and soft electronics. This review links sensing physics, including contact resistance modulation, quantum tunneling and percolation, to unified materials/structure design. We highlight composite and graded architectures, interfacial/porous engineering, and microstructured 3D conductive networks

Lattice ellipsoidal statistical BGK model for thermal non-equilibrium flows

open access: yes, 2012
A thermal lattice Boltzmann model is constructed on the basis of the ellipsoidal statistical Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (ES-BGK) collision operator via the Hermite moment representation.

Stress-Breakdown Time and Slip-Weakening Distance Inferred from Slip-Velocity Functions on Earthquake Faults [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We estimate the critical slip-weakening distance on earthquake faults by using a new approach, which is independent of the estimate of fracture energy or radiated seismic energy.

Dual solutions of slip flow past a nonlinearly shrinking permeable sheet

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2016
The aim of the paper is to investigate the flow of an incompressible viscous fluid past a nonlinearly shrinking permeable sheet. Partial slip condition is considered instead of no slip condition at the boundary.
