Diffusion Velocities for Algebraic Slip Models

2007
Historically stationary bubble flows or particle flows in pipes are investigated by measuring the volumetric flows of gas and liquid among the other flow characteristics. These measurements are easily recomputed in terms of relative cross-section-averaged volume fluxes or relative velocities.

Electrophoresis of particles with Navier velocity slip

ELECTROPHORESIS, 2013
In the present investigation, it is found that the electrophoretic mobility of hydrophobic particles is affected not only by the zeta potential but also by the velocity slip at the particle surface. From a physicochemical viewpoint, zeta potential represents the surface charge properties and the slip coefficient indicates the hydrophobicity of the ...

SLIP VELOCITY OF RIGID FIBERS IN A TURBULENT CHANNEL FLOW

Proceeding of Eighth International Symposium on Turbulence and Shear Flow Phenomena, 2013
In this study, the slip velocity between rigid fibers and a viscous carrier fluid is investigated for the reference case of turbulent channel flow. The statistical moments of the slip velocity are evaluated modelling fibers as prolate spheroids with Stokes number, St, ranging from 1 to 100 and aspect ratio, λ, ranging from 3 to 50.

Velocity control of unmanned ground vehicles by wheel slip

2013 10th International Conference on Ubiquitous Robots and Ambient Intelligence (URAI), 2013
In this study, it starts to plan speed unmanned ground vehicle is stabilized in accordance with the state of the road surface. Through the interlocking speed control system that utilizes a slip ratio of the tire becomes unmanned ground vehicles, and accessed.

Role of surface shape on boundary slip and velocity defect

Physical Review E, 2012
Although many gas-phase microfluidic devices contain curved surfaces, relatively little research has been conducted on the degree of slip over nonplanar surfaces. The present study demonstrates the influence of the surface shape (i.e., convex/concave) on the velocity slip and formation of the Knudsen layer.

Nonlinear Smoluchowski slip velocity and micro-vortex generation

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2002
When an electric field is applied across a conducting and ion-selective porous granule in an electrolyte solution, a polarized surface layer with excess counter-ions is created. The depth of this layer and the overpotential V across this layer are functions of the normal electric field j on the granule surface.

Slip Forces for Bodies in Contact With Large Spin and Small Slip Velocities

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1974
Two elastic bodies are treated, which are in contact over an elliptical surface, are subjected to a large spin about an axis normal to the contact surface, and have small slip velocities tangential to that contact surface. It is shown that these slip velocities are proportional to the tangential components of force acting at the contact surface, and ...
