Multimodal Mechanical Testing of Additively Manufactured Ti6Al4V Lattice Structures: Compression, Bending, and Fatigue

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Dynamic soil water retention properties: Exploring the interplay of moisture states and soil structure dynamics in a compacted Andosol

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal
The influence of soil structure dynamics on spatiotemporal variability in soil water flows and distribution is generally omitted in hydrological modeling across scales. Soils like Andosols exhibit important structural dynamics, which affects the accurate

A time-variant reliability analysis framework for selective laser melting fabricated lattice structures with probability and convex hybrid models

open access: yesVirtual and Physical Prototyping, 2022
We propose a time-variant reliability analysis framework to quantitatively predict the lifetime of the lattice structures fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM), including confirming hybrid uncertainties, establishing a hybrid model, and proposing ...

Bimetallic (NiFe) and Trimetallic (NiFeCr) Nanoalloys from Metal Oxides Using a Microwave Hydrogen Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Bimetallic (NiFe) and trimetallic (NiFeCr) nanoalloys (NAs) are synthesized using corresponding oxide mixtures using microwave hydrogen plasma within a few milliseconds. The process simultaneously 1) reduces metal oxides to metals; 2) downsizes the particles from micrometers to nanometers; and 3) blends the metals to form NAs.

Time Reduction for SLM OFDM PAPR Based on Adaptive Genetic Algorithm in 5G IoT Networks

open access: yesSensors, 2023
In this paper, a new peak average power and time reduction (PAPTR) based on the adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) strategy is used in order to improve both the time reduction and PAPR value reduction for the SLM OFDM and the conventional genetic algorithm

Mechanical Properties of Architected Polymer Lattice Materials: A Comparative Study of Additive Manufacturing and CAD Using FEM and µ‐CT

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how pore shape and manufacturing‐induced deviations affect the mechanical properties of 3D‐printed lattice materials with constant porosity. Combining µ‐CT analysis, FEM, and compression testing, the authors show that structural imperfections reduce stiffness and strength, while bulk material inhomogeneities probably enhance ...
