Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Analysis on slope stability by anchorage based on soil creep with flood effect

open access: yesHeliyon
In order to analyze the adverse effect of flood affection on slope stability, the analytical expressions of buoyancy force and capillary force, hydrodynamic pressure and impact force, and scour erosion were proposed based on the aging characteristics of ...

Simple slope compensator for Ku-band applications.

open access: yes, 1997
The present paper describes a simple circuital solution for a slope compensation function to be used in an amplification chain when it is necessary to recover for both fast ripple and slope variation occurred within the whole bandwidth. The circuit has been studied and developed mainly for Ku-Band applications and has been implemented in MMIC form ...

Effective inertial frame in an atom interferometric test of the equivalence principle

open access: yes, 2017
In an ideal test of the equivalence principle, the test masses fall in a common inertial frame. A real experiment is affected by gravity gradients, which introduce systematic errors by coupling to initial kinematic differences between the test masses. We

Monitoring the Petermann Ice Island with TanDEM-X [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents the processing of TanDEM-X acquisitions for the monitoring of the topography of the Petermann ice island. In this particular case the area under study is continuously moving and the acquisition geometry is changing, so the processing ...

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Slope Compensation and Bifurcation in a DC-DC, Single-Input, Multiple-Output, CMOS Integrated Converter Under Current-Mode and Comparator-Based Hybrid Control

open access: yesJournal of Low Power Electronics and Applications
Single-Input, Multi-Output (SIMO) converters present significant challenges when operated under current-mode control, due to their strongly non-linear dynamics and susceptibility to bifurcation phenomena. To mitigate the effects on the converter’s steady-

Ossified Posterior Longitudinal Ligament Existing at an Intervertebral Level Limits Compensatory Mechanism of Cervical Lordosis after Muscle-Preserving Selective Laminectomy

open access: yesSpine Surgery and Related Research, 2019
Introduction: As C7 slope increases, lordotic change of C2-C7 angle compensates for adjustments in cervical sagittal balance. However, ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) may affect the compensatory mechanism of the cervical spine.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Breakdown of Kinetic Compensation Effect in Physical Desorption

open access: yes, 2017
The kinetic compensation effect (KCE), observed in many fields of science, is the systematic variation in the apparent magnitudes of the Arrhenius parameters $E_a$, the energy of activation, and $\nu$, the preexponential factor, as a response to ...
