Abstract Slope Mass Rating (SMR) is a widely used rock mass classification intended to characterize and classify rocky slopes. It is based on basic Rock Mass Rating (RMRb), and is obtained by subtracting a factorial correction factor depending on the discontinuity and the slope face geometrical relationship (F1×F2×F3), and adding a correction factor ...

Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment, 2011
The paper discusses the use of kinematic stability and slope mass rating (SMR) maps in GIS based on field studies recording the relationships between the bedding/joint geometry relative to the orientation of the free face. The results indicated the potential for both planar and wedge type failures in many locations along a railway route.

Cavity geometry influence on mass flow rate for single and double slope solar stills
Applied Thermal Engineering, 2000Abstract An experimental setup was built in order to evaluate the distillate yield for a double slope laboratory still under controlled conditions for basin water and collector temperatures within typical operating ranges. Additionally, experimental data previously gathered are correlated to propose a new empirical model to estimate mass flow rates ...

Calculation of rates of displacement of viscous soil masses on a sloped surface
Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, 1993This article discusses solution of the problem of determining the rates of displacement of viscous soils on a sloped surface, taking into account the nonlinear relationship between deformation rates and tangential stresses, and its variability through the depth of the soil mass under the action of the soil's own weight.
