Helmeted hornbill cranial kinesis: Balancing mobility and stability in a high‐impact joint

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 5, Page 1299-1312, May 2026.
Abstract Prokinesis—in which a craniofacial joint allows the rostrum to move relative to the braincase—is thought to confer diverse advantages in birds, mostly for feeding. A craniofacial joint would, however, be a weak link if cranial stability is important. Paradoxically, we have identified a craniofacial joint in helmeted hornbills (Rhinoplax vigil),

Choreographing Triage: Making Patient Requests ‘Flow’ Through Digitally Enabled Systems of Access and Decision‐Making in NHS Primary Care

open access: yesSociology of Health &Illness, Volume 48, Issue 4, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper explores the altered landscape of primary care following the accelerated process of implementing digitally enabled triage across UK general practice in response to COVID‐19. Traditional understandings of triage are based on a static ‘pile sorting’ logic, which suggests that triage outcomes depend upon a single decision in time and ...

Neither Black Enough nor White Enough: An Intersectional Perspective on the Lived Experiences of Colored Women Leaders in Postapartheid South Africa

open access: yesGender, Work &Organization, Volume 33, Issue 3, Page 858-869, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This article seeks to disrupt the undertheorization of Colored women's leadership experiences in gender transformation research. We refer specifically to women who self‐identify as Colored South African and consider themselves to be part of the South African Colored community.

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 27, 2 April 2026.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Organometallic Precursor‐Induced Gradient Architecture on Multilayer Nanoporous Graphene Membranes for Precise Organic Solvent Nanofiltration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 27, 2 April 2026.
Alumina growth narrows surface pores and seals non‐selective defects, enhancing selectivity while preserving the nanoporous graphene architecture. Additionally, the deposition enables gradient‐controlled structural modification, with intergrown alumina acting as a physical cross‐linker that stabilizes the laminar structure.
